Is it normal for a smug villager to suddenly moan about new villagers?

Hi

I have been playing ACNH less than a year and during that time I have had the same villagers throughout whom I love but felt it was time to mix it up a little with different personalities and hobbies and now I am currently on my second change with villagers my smug villager (Lopez) whom I also adore is commenting all the time about who is coming to our shores and villagers going/coming and I am just wondering if this is normal in the game? Would love some insights on this if anybody has any?

Yeah I believe it's pretty normal, think smug villagers are always talking about the future of the island a lot from their dialogue.

I know Julian on my island is always talking about where he thinks our island could be in like 5 years, kinda cool haha.

Good to know it just seemed a little weird to me almost as if he was making sure he was not going next haha
