Just as the update came out I had to switch from my joy con controllers to my super mario enhanced controller due to drift. So I never used the joy cons with the update. I have noticed that since I started using the new controller I'm having a lot of pain in my right thumb when I play. Since I never used the joy cons for swimming idk if it's that new part of the game or the controller itself(and if it will stop once I'm used to using it). Anyone else experience this? Does it happen with the joy cons too?

Yes, my right thumb tends to hurt a bit with the swimming

you can also swim by holding down A instead of pressing it! that might help a little

I use joy cons only and my right thumb still hurts from swimming because after a while my muscles will get tired of smashing the A button. Just take a break if you really get uncomfortable. If you swim everyday technically you should be able to build up that muscle in your right thumb and it won't bother you as much lol

ive played the game today without swimming and my thumb still hurts so im not convinced its the swimming alone. i think it may be the controller too guess ill have to wait and see

Yeah, I have felt this before the swimming update when I play too much lol

Instead of using the joycons or gamepad, I use the switch pro controller. Way better, no pain, very comfortable.

Idk about you, but I'm a pretty small woman with pretty small hands. Larger controllers tend to stress the joints and tendons in my hand(s) after a lot of frequent use. The joycon in controller configuration has actually been way easier than most. I'd suggest you take more frequent breaks or think about replacing your joycon (until the repair service is back up!). You don't need a whole new pair, just whichever is acting up.
