Is anyone else having a hard time keeping up with the community..

...If you consider how much time it takes to get 1 NMT and how long the game has been out, it’s an insane amount of effort to get 50-100 NMTs. ...

Imma just interject with my before post saying I got 60 NMT in 3 days without TT, going try hard for them, or trading with other users to get them... so... there's that...

oh god believe me I’ve tried. I haven’t had a campsite villager in about 6 months game time. and I have 0 smug villagers.. I’ve given up hope on the campsite

that happened to me too and this fixed it (or it was just an amazing coincidence, who knows)
  1. TT forward a year (I did 11 months so I have no idea what the cutoff is or if there even is one but it worked for me)
  2. look for the villager thinking of moving out and tell them no
  3. TT forward day-by-day (I had my first visitor in forever the very next day)

I guess I have a hard time keeping up with some traders within the community. I dislike when they ignore your offers, and instead of simply saying "someone offered something better," they just move on to the next person and ignore your offers. And that is just with items. I can't imagine how it is with villagers. :(

It reminds me of how that "the market regulates itself" bs works only in theory, but in reality, it's one of the most famous fallacies people love to believe.
It kind of does though.
At least on TBT anyways.

Most people who talk about Raymond pricing completely missed the Marshal craze pre-amiibos in ACNL.
It was MADNESS.
I have heard LESS people say they want Raymond than people who wanted Marshal back in those days. @.@

Anyways, since TBT will look into exploiting situations. Offer other ways of paying (forum bells.) And overall a nicer community than several other animal crossing communities... the craze will slowly die down.
He will always be wanted.
He will always be expensive.
But not like he is now.

Oof I can only imagine the weeds 😂 I’ll have to consider that..thanks for the advice!

Yup I’ve had that happen to me many times.. it’s very discouraging

You get them for selling them, tho? Lmao
But yeah I do wish we got them just for picking weeds.
I'm paranoid that my island will run out of weeds and I'll need some for a DIY so I keep 400 in my storage just in case 🌱
but yeah I forgot that you have to sell them haha. I guess I'll sell a couple

... I only sell them when I have a Nook Miles+ reward for it...
I may or may not have 1700weeds in storage (yay for 99stacks!!)
I like plant items and a lot of the recipes that use them... dont judge me...

Im actually more disturbed with the whole turnip "entry fee" situation, really tired of having to pay NMT to just sell turnips its getting on my nerves!
I can understand 1 NMT, or a small and fair base fee. But if someone is charging extreme prices like 10 NMT or 500k entry fee for anything, it's just robbery.
Like? No, lol. Specially when its assumed that everyone that sells turnips make bank when not everyone makes the same amount of bells due to how many turnips they buy vs. another player who takes more trips.

Same! I have kept most of the weeds from my island because I low-key love a lot of the DIYs you can make with them.

Yea that's my point exactly, its really annoying and I don't understand why this is allowed

I decided I'm going to find a smug villager I like who isn't Marshal or Raymond. There are about half a dozen decent ones. It's no fun if every island has the same villagers, anyway.

Agreed, but also it's their decision to set entry fees. If they want to lose 99% of potential turnip sellers by jacking up the entry fee, let them.

May I recommend Eugene?

Most dreamies don't sell for 100 NMTs consistently anyway. There are 3 villagers that sell for over 100 and those are Audie, Judy and Raymond. The most expensive villager after that is Marshal and he averages out at around 75-100 tickets.

The rest of the dreamies - barring a few cats and a few with unique designs - you can usually find them between 40-50 NMTs. Merengue and Marina for example don't go for much - 30-40 tickets usually. Anything more than that and you either have someone who is RMTing for tickets, is desperate or the person selling is lying about the current offer.

I guess I can count myself lucky on this. I managed to pull Marina and Audie in a relatively small number of islands hopped. Also managed to get Marshal using the TTing campsite method. I really like Marshal, but if he asked to move I wouldn't actually be too opposed to letting him go for cheap. Same for Marina (saving Audie for a friend atm, so she's taken).

I was lucky enough to get Raymond as a camper in my island (I personally did not care for him but I knew someone who did and gave him away)

I don't know if its just me but I've had some pretty good luck on islands (Not for me tho! Haven't gotten many villagers I wanted, just keep holding them for friends LOL) I've gotten Marina, Erik, Sherb, Whitney, Freya, and I even got Francine as a camper (Didn't take cause she was gonna kick Kiki!)

I would also like to add that I think the overall high prices of NMTs across the board currently are due to people using the NMTs to search on the islands to get their dreamies, which include Raymond often on these lists. I've seen several posts on Facebook (I have problems with some people on Facebook villager trading, they try and scam the new people, and complain when they don't get their way imo...) aggressively stating stuff like:
"I AM ONLY ACCEPTING OFFERS FOR MY VILLAGER IF YOU HAVE (insert new and/or popular villager here, usually it's Raymond) OTHERWISE I WILL VOID THIS VILLAGER IF NO ONE OFFERS ME (insert new and/or popular villager here)"
or
"only DM if you have (insert new and/or popular villager here) or at least (insanely high number) NMTs so I can go find them myself on the islands, will be voiding if I don't get any acceptable offers"

I just discovered the mechanics behind the mystery island RNG (check my sig for the thread), and I would think that the mystery islands were not intended to be used hundreds and hundreds of times in search of that 1 specific villager. I think Nintendo might have meant for them to provide more of a variety of options to people as the animal species (not specific villagers) all have the same chance of appearing on them. This is a huge improvement over previous games when random was basically the inevitable thing to happen if you didn't adopt from someone else... It allows the user some degree of choice, but I don't think they intended or wanted people to abuse the islands in search of Raymond or any 1 specific villager for that matter... They're meant to be used for resources, a fun trip to get away from your island, and maybe invite a villager too, but not to grind them for a business cat :(
