Hey, all! I recently received some money for my birthday, and for a long time now have been thinking of buying a second copy of ACNL. People with 2+ copies- do you like having a second town? do you still play on your first town? Did you finish your first town before getting your new one? And most of all, was getting a second copy worth it?

At one point, I had two towns (a digital and hard copy) and I found that I just used my second town for cycling and not much else. I focused way too much on trying to cycle villagers so that I could get my dreamies in my main town, and it became really boring and tiring, and I didn't enjoy it at all. I recently restarted both and gave my hard copy to my sister so that she could play as well, and I'm much happier with just the one town, playing through the game at normal pace, and not spending hours and hours resetting for villagers or plots.

I don't have a second copy, so I can't tell you first hand about it. My friend has two copies, however, and she loves it. She told me that it's really nice to have all that room for villagers, and other people have said it's nice to be able to decorate two towns as well. You can always get a used copy from Gamestop or another store and just wipe the data if there's any, since that would be cheaper. I think you might have to have a second SD card as well, so that's something to keep in mind. Personally, I am thinking about getting another copy for fun. I'd definitely go the used route, just so I don't have to pay full price and many stores have a return policy if the game card doesn't work.

I personally wouldn't, since it seems like a waste of money IMO. You have a single copy to play and stuff, I don't see a reason why you need another one. Many people have bought another copy to get their dreamies but you can just trade/buy them.

You can, however, make the second town a cycling town and get tbt that way, but if you really want tbt you can just buy a N3DS game code with that money and sell it.

I am looking to get a second town so I can do other activities in it like cycling and time traveling so I think it could be worth it. You could also make a second town have any kind of theme too that maybe you wouldn't want your first town to have. :) It may get a little boring at times though if you're just cycling or frustrating keeping up with both, so you basically have to decide if you want to put your time into or not. I know some people who have five games and completely enjoy every second, and others who think just one is fun too. :3

Getting the 2nd copy was worth it because I had time to play both.
Yes I still play my main town. It's my main focus.
Setting the 2nd town in a different season and a different time is helpful. No doing two Pave Days in one night. That's too much.

I've read that some freeze their towns when they have extra copies. They cycle thru them. Once them get a mover than the save/quit. Mark down the date and than play the next town. With extra copies you'll have to write the date last played. The activity log doesn't work with extra copies. I write mine in the game notes if I stop playing a town for a while.

If you still need the streetpass badge for your main town make sure to open that town after a tag. I lost a lot of streetpass tags to my digital copy because I opened it up first.

One SD card is enough for both games. I did upgrade to a large one because I bought some other digital games.

My 2nd town is my guest town. It's where visitor are allow to drop by. It's an easy going town and I grow a lot of perfect fruit there. Bonus having a lot of visitors helps premium perfect fruit prices. A lot of visitors are looking to sell some of their perfect fruit at regular price. About a week later I'll get that perfect fruit at premium a lot of the time. Perfect cherries showed up on the board a lot.

I have two copies! I use one for my main village and used to use the other for cycling. I didn't really find a purpose for it after I obtained all my dreamies and it stressed me out when I would mess up TT. I tried using it as another town , but it was just too much for me. I am very happy with just my one copy!

I have 5. I love creating themed towns, and I don't have the heart to destroy the ones I have, so I just buy more copies. It's a terrible addiction for me.

I had a second town for a year and it was totally worth it. It was a way to keep my "real" town pristine. I traded out of my second and i never had to worry about people stealing stuff, running on hybrids, etc. I got to time travel, run on the grass, and cycled villagers too. I had fun, no regrets.

I got a second copy because I had a really nice idea to make a town about, and the more I formulated it the bigger the urge to get a second copy became. I eventually caved in at the end xP But I don't regret it. I'm having fun collecting villagers in it right now :3

I actually have four....and buying a fifth...lol. I think it's worth it and I play all my towns.

^^ Wow, I think that's a high score! Kudos to you for being able to keep up with all of them! Wouldn't it be nice if they let us have more than one town per card?

I have a second copy on a second DS and I love it. It helps that the second town has different fruit so I can trade it and sell for a higher price in the other town to get bells faster. It's nice to time travel and it doesn't matter which villagers I lose. When I built up the second town I found that it sold different items in the stores that I had trouble finding in my main town. I also use the second copy for breeding hybrids, it came in really handy when I was trying to make gold roses. Yes it's time consuming but it's also easy to put it down for a day or two unlike my main town.

One thing I did find fun was visiting the dream address of my main town and destroying it, you can't do that with one town:)

This is my exact response as well.

Ehh, having a second copy isn't all it's cracked up to be. It seems like a fun and cool idea at first but I found trying to run two towns became overwhelming and it took a lot of charm out of the game for me. Now if you would like to use it for cycling now and then I would recommend it, but if you're going to use it as a regular town I wouldn't. That's just me though!

It will be a waste of money if you don't use both! If you actually use them then I don't think there's much of a problem with it... If there is nothing else you need to spend the money on or that you would rather use it for, you might as well buy a second copy if that's what you want.

I personally bought a second copy after my main town was (mostly) completed, and I like the way it worked out. Now I go on my main town 2 or 3 times a week, usually at night, and it's very nice and relaxing to just do errands for villagers and admire the landscaping I've done without worrying about needing to do anything more. My second town started as a cycling town, and now I play it more often and do a lot of landscape work in it, plus try out new villagers and decide on dreamies. I might even turn it back into a cycling town soon. I couldn't even imagine trying to landscape more than one town and actively working on multiples at once though. I don't have that much spare time >.<

For me it was also somewhat of a longterm investment, if that makes sense. I think I'll be playing New Leaf for a long time since I don't have a WiiU and will not be getting one just for the next Animal Crossing. I could never reset Primrose, but if it was my only town I think I'd lose interest in the game much faster.

So it depends whether or not it will be worth it. For me it was, but you have to consider how much time you have and how badly you actually want another town. Also think of all the other things you could spend the money on.. Who knows, you could get a different game and you might like it better. Or you could get a second copy of New Leaf and regret it. It's hard to say lol

Good luck deciding ^.^

I've thought about getting a second copy because there are town ideas that I don't necessarily want to implement on my main town or wouldn't be feasible, and this could be a way to do it. I could also play with a different style on both to keep things diverse. The idea of being able to have even more villagers is a plus too.

I haven't gotten a second copy, though, because I don't think I really have the time to try to keep up with two towns and one of them would probably end up being neglected. If I ever end up thinking that I can, I might get a second town.

I guess it's up to you and why you want a second town in the first place. I don't think it's worth it if you just want a cycle towns with no plans to do anything with it when you've obtained your dream villagers, since you can just try to get them from someone else, for example.

I have two games but 1 ds and I have mixed feelings about having 2 towns.. My initial plan was to cycle and have a trashy town on the second game cartridge but I keep changing course so that it ends up looking like my first town(perfect town with tons of hybrids). With 1 ds I can't transfer items or villagers which is what I would consider a positive to having 2 games. In addition my original town's mayor has fewer gold medals than he could have only because I spent the time getting medals for the second town's mayor and completing that museum.
