Oh dear lord... $600 dollars for a cellphone. Maybe it's just because I never use mine, but what is the big deal with all this crap they load on to it just to get more money? I mean really, find a seafood resturant? There are about 50 of those uselsess functions on most of these new phones. You know what they're good for? Cranking up the price.

ipods are overpriced too... but in 2 or 3 yrs, there will be lots of competition, offering the same features for a lot less.

Everything always goes down in price over time, because so many people would have them, it wouldn't be worth as much.

The amount of people who have something doesn't change somethings worth, unless it's out of copy/print of which most things aren't. The iPhone might go down in price soon but thing is it's not even that good but it's getting way to much press.

the iphone probably wont go down in price for a long while, but similar products will have lower prices

No. I'm pretty sure they will be the same.
look at ipods compared to other mp3 players... same features pretty much, others have lower prices quite often

No, not really. iPod features games, photos, movies, calender, contacts, clocks, alarm, t.v., podcasts, music videos, shuffle, search, music, and don't forget iTunes which basically comes with it.

I don't know what other MP3 players you are talking about but the iPod is a good deal in my opinion.
