The one thing i wish we could do on new leaf is maybe have people come over if your town gate is open without having to go through and add them before. I trade with people and i would have to see if we are friends before and i had a trade going i had to close the gate then add then open the gate. It would be so much easier to have a setting button maybe to let people come and visit if you wanted them without going through all that.

I dont have online right now but fo you think itll be easier for the switch to do stuff like that or no

I think you'd still need to have them as a friend to let them in. It would be catastrophic if people could just come into a random town without being a friend first. Unless visitors are no longer able to destroy your town or steal things. I definitely wouldn't want everyone to be able to come over without my approval first unless there was some protection..

Although adding friends on 3DS is super tedious and awful tbh. I wish they just simplified it and we didn't have to close and reopen the gate just to add someone.

I just hope adding will be easier. Maybe that would be better for me

I agree with the inconvenience, but can't see a way to implement quite what you're describing.
Like UglyMonsterFace said, simplifying the process seems like a more reasonable change. Here's hoping there'll at least be some improvement to the previous system.

Imagine strolling through your town only to run into an unexpected stranger!
Even if they couldn't take or interact with anything?it would be like coming across a wandering spirit O.O

(The more I think about it the more fun it suddenly seems...I'm down for it after all)

Haha I'd for sure be down for it if they couldn't affect anything at all! Like no picking up stuff, using tools, running, or buying stuff, etc. And to have the power to kick them out whenever. Might make the daily grind interesting just to have someone to chat to and maybe play mini games. Hehe

I just hope this time around that visitors actually show up on the map so I know where they are..

I'm hoping to play with a lot of people from here and I do agree. The adding process is so tedious. When I did trades before a while back and it was a new person, I would always have my character standing at the train station and then open up my friends list and wait for the person to add me before I opened my gates up. It was really nerve racking especially if they forgot to add me or something, but yeah. I think we will still need to add friend codes in order to play together. :/

I think an easy simplification would be an in-game friend list-but one one with less numbers in the friend code or a username.

Would work well with the nook phone as you could collect your "friends" mobile number from them and then invite them to come to your town by calling them. Much faster than clogging up your switch friend list

Yep, this is exactly what I want lol. I want a friends list app for the phone where you could call them over or text them.

I think alot of should go work for them

The only way I can see anything like that happening is if the dream suite? let's you visit a town that was currently connected to the internet (for whatever reason) and you show up as like a ghost and you wander around but you cant damage or steal anything but you can talk to their villagers. And the player can see you but you can't really interact with each other and the player can walk through you (so that you arent interrupting their playtime)

I dont really see the point of any that but it's not real so doesnt matter.

But yeah your going to have to add people to play with them.

i just hope that the whole traveling process itself doesn't take forever.

the loading animations took so much time in new leaf! not to mention the frequent disconnect issues. it seems better now but for a while the constant disconnecting with friends made me super paranoid and saving a lot more than necessary so no one lost their progress. :/

nintendo online for the switch is already disappointing so i'm... not full of the most hope.

I will say that this was something I was afraid of after Pok?mon X and Y came out-the game allowed you to basically add complete strangers to your friends list without exchanging friend codes (if you had enough battles with them and so forth), so I was always afraid that adding someone that way on Pok?mon would allow them, in case they also owned New Leaf, to come into my town whenever my gates were open and quite literally destroy it.

Yeah I never thought about friends from other games since on my 3ds I only played ac online and I would always delete people after a trade. But on the switch I feel like to protect ACNH players from that, they should have an AC friendslist on top of the overall switch friend list where you can "heart" people on your switch friend list to dictate that they're someone you want to play with in New Horizons as well. It adds a layer of protection without a player having to delete people on their friends lists just to prevent random people from visiting their islands.

There could be an option that lets you open your island like club tortimer. With a search bar you could name the server so people would know what to look up, the 'server' being your island. Like a hub of islands you can visit without having to be friends. There would be settings you can switch on/off when creating the server like no picking stuff up, no buying stuff, etc.. There would be so many horror stories if this was a thing lol

now that i think about it club tortimer was on an island and we're gonna be on our own islands so maybe there is some connection oop-

Wasn't exactly this a problem in WW and CF?

I mean, as long as you watch out, it shouldn't be a problem, and I actually would like to have this, as well, for things like giveaways. One way I could imagine implementing it is to add a third option when you open your gate - currently, we have open to all friends, or open to best friends, and the third option would be something like "open to all", with open to all friends as the default and the new option being lowest on the list, so you don't accidentally choose it and end up having something happen.

This sounds like a nice solution for this problem and I would welcome this, as I could imagine that the
Switch friend list gets pretty fast full when you want to play or trade with so many other AC players
out there.

This is why I really an equivalent to the market box in pocket camp. A simple function where we can add items for trade and restrict it to only our friends list who can buy them. That would simplify trading and make things go a lot smoother. You wouldn't even have to be online at the same time.
