Segaonline, a website that is remarked to be a credible source of info has some rumors regarding Project Needlemouse.

According to rumors, the game will be called Sonic the Hedgehog 4. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will be split into episodes, the first being Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1. Although it will be split in episodes, they promise each episode will be a full game in it's own right (One character per episode perhaps?). The first level be called Splash Hill Zone and the last will be Egg Station Zone.

The games will not be on the Wii, but on the PS3 and 360.

Keep in mind that these are rumors not fact, but the fact that Segaonline is regarded as a very credible source makes it seem likely these rumors to be true.

If it is going to be Sonic the Hedgehog 4, I'm glad it won't be for Wii. That means I won't have to worry about buying a game I won't enjoy. =p But I'm calling BS on this rumor. A Sonic game split into episodes? Ew, no.

Sounds like a good rumor
Being on the PS3 and 360 means higher quality :T
but isn't it going to be like one of the old 2D games? I don't know if graphics will matter too much...

I don't see why having Sonic split into episodes is odd, lot's of games do that nowadays. It's important to remember that each episode is supposed to be a game in it's own right. It may have different characters in different games or it might be it's own saga, much like Sonic 2/3/and Knuckles were known as the "Death Egg Saga."

Horrible idea, splitting it into episodes...

It would be good if you had the option to download each episode individually, or, alternitavly, just download the whole game or buy it on a disk.

And thank God its not on the wii, even though its 2D you can do much more with the processing power of the other consoles

Why would you care if it was also released on Wii or not?! 360 and PS3 would get their HD version, and Wii would get its standard version. There's absolutely no problem with it being released on all three consoles.

How caring for your Wii friends Tye.

Secondly, where the hell is this 2D rumor coming from? =/ Sure, I'd love Sega to mimic Capcom and do what they did with Megaman, but I don't recall ever seeing something like this at all.

Finally, these rumors interest me. Episodes? This could be interesting.

The game is obviously going to be on a 2D plane, but 3D models aren't out of the question. The rumored episodes will be the size of the original Genesis games (i.e., seven Chaos emeralds each), so Episode 1, 2, 3 (if there are 3) will just be a new trilogy, basically. Might as well call 'em Sonic 4, 5, and 6...

Or so the rumor goes. As afraid of the "Sonic cycle" as I am, I'm getting excited about Needlemouse...

Because if the developers want to make a wii version they will either

A) Release roughly the same game on all three platforms, except for more pixels on the xbox and ps3, and not use the power of either system to pull off the best game they could possibly do. End result: Another crappy set of sonic games

B ) Release a slightly different version for the wii which would be developed seperately, which would mean the two versions would suffer because the xbox and ps3 games wont get the full attention of the developers. End result: another crappy set of sonic games.

OR

C) Release it as a wii exclusive. End result: Need I say more?

Releasing a Wii version does not mean that they'll spend any less time with the other versions. And graphics aren't everything, you know.

Processing power does mean something, though.

As does online play, and memory.

And also, waggle.

And lets just say I have to work on 2 projects for tomorrow, would I be better just doing project A alone and getting full marks from the one teacher?

Or would I be better doing both projects simultaniously, and getting D's from both teachers?

You need to stop bashing the Wii just because it's not as powerful as the other two consoles. Nintendo sacrificed power for gameplay and innovation, and I haven't had a problem with it at all. The Wii can handle great games like Super Mario Galaxy, so don't think it can't. Also, the Wii can definitely handle great online play, as shown with Mario Kart Wii. And motion control is great. It may not be for everyone, but neither is conventional gaming controls. Motion control adds a lot of fun to the game, and fresh experience. I'd rather swing a Wii Remote than mash some buttons any day.

Its not the power of the system, its how its used, the wii was perfectly able to have a good online system, but it doesnt, as fun and intuitive as entering a twelve digit code for every game I want to play online with someone is, I'd rather have a psn account.

You say the wii has great games like super mario galaxy and mario kart, but what do them two games have in common??

They were both first party produced for their flagship chracter.

You always say that no-one has 'pushed the wii to it's limits' And that's its biggest problem, people can make quick cash ff putting out a cheap minigame collection, so they dont bother to put effort into them.

I would say the lists for excellent games on the ps3 and xbox 360 is are at least ten times as long as that of the wii, because no-one makes an effort.

And that is why people bash the wii, lack of effort from both third parties and nintendo.

Then you're just assuming that Sega won't push its limits. (It's not like there are many limits to push with a Genesis-style game, anyway.) They certainly did a great job with Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic and the Black Knight, and although they cut elements from the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed because they were pairing it with the PS2, it's still great game. Maybe new Sonic doesn't appeal to you, but the games aren't by any means bad. I'd never play Kingdom Hearts in my entire life (ew, Disney), but I won't say that it's a bad game. Different games appeal to different people, and you have to accept that. It doesn't make games that don't appeal to you any less good.

Its not going to be styled after the genesis, its going to be based off the genesis games, like NSMB is based off SMB

And Id be willing to bet quite a bit that if a wii version came out, that it would nowhere near do the system justice.

And it's impossible to criticise disney, they own pretty much everything there is to own right about now, and I wouldnt dare criticise kingdom hearts for containing disney, unless I got sent to the hannah montana world...

YOU DID however admit that kingdom hearts was good, so im going to leave you alone for a while

And so, my thread became a flame topic on Wii vs. PS3 and Xbox 360. =[

Hopefully, this topic will still be helpful to people.
