Insect furniture question

On Saturday all three of my mayors participated in the bugoff and between them collected most of the insect set. I would like to have the two mayors in my secondary towns give some pieces to my primary town's mayor. I think I read somewhere that
this is not possible, that those items would turn into other items. Is this true?

I don't think this is true, but I've never tried this. However, people do
sell bug furniture to each other so I think you can transfer them.
