Impossible to interact with villager

Hello there,

In my despair, I decided to make a thread and I hope it's the right place for that. If not, my apologies.

As the title says, ever since today it happened that one of my villagers completely "glitched out" and became inactive. I found him standing in front of the door of his house, facing the door and I could not talk to him. He wouldn't walk, he wouldn't react to any of my emotes. Later that day, he ended up in his house, which I cannot access any longer. There are no objects in front of his door. He still per se exists on my island, for another villager asked me to deliver something to him. Of course, I can't do that.

Saving and quitting the game did nothing to it.
I think that this might be a bug, but I'm pretty upset and a little bit in panic about it and I wanted to ask if anyone else is faced with the same issue? Is there any way to fix it or do I need to wait for the mercy of Nintendo to find and fix this bug?

(Edit: I might add that the other villagers, as well as their houses, are absolutely fine. It's just that very specific villager that I can no longer interact with!)

First I would send a support ticket to Nintendo and show them what you showed us.

Try time travelling a few days to see if that fixes it.

If still nothing a last resort would be to have a amiibo or campsite villager kick him out.

I just tried to reach out to Nintendo. I hope that this *at least* makes them aware of the issue.

I would like to avoid kicking him out, for he's one of my favorite villagers that I really want to keep. But yeah, before I end up with an inactive plot, I might as well kick him.

I had something similar, but where they were in their house and I couldn't enter it (no message from the door at all, couldn't enter or talk to them when they were out) -- saving and quitting, closing the software, and turning my Switch on and off again fixed it for me -- I feel like closing software might be the important step (the main goal is to free the cache -- I think you can also go to System -> Formatting Options -> Clear Cache).

I tried just that, turning off my switch completely and it fixed the issue for me!!

I had the same thing happen with two villager houses, couldn't enter either but reloading the game worked for me.

I once couldn't enter Cousteau's house. I thought it was the wreath I gave him somehow interacting with his door, but I think it probably wasn't in hindsight and I should've tried quitting and reloading.
