I have purchased this on a basis of it being a collector's item and I want to keep it boxed.

But please tell me whether or not the battery should be fine or not due to I don't want to sell it on later in life with a dead battery and yet if I opened the box to charge it, I would most likely ruin the collector's value of it due to it being a Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Limited Edition Nintendo 3DS.

I know it sounds silly, but I am at a loss of whether or not to cancel my preorder on Amazon UK as I don't want to spend money on a Limited Edition console if I have the feeling that it won't be worth it in later years...

Lithium takes a while to corrode. It's not a car battery that we're talking about. In my opinion, I don't think you should worry about it. I'm no expert, though.

Thanks for replying so quick, I am requiring quite a few opinions as I would HATE to have wasted ?164.99...

EDIT: I was just told by someone that it probably won't corrode the battery so long as I don't do the initial charge as it would be sent out from the shopping site as Brand New

Yea, usually they don't have a full charge on the batteries (that is, if they have one at all).

I think it should last upwards of 10-15 years. But yeah, I'm no expert either. Maybe you can get in contact with Nintendo and see if they have information about it.
