My second town ended up being my main town now. I already accomplished so much and I like it so much better than my other town. It's the digital version and I know at some point my save file will be corrupted. :/

I really hope Nintendo addresses this issue with the upcoming update. u_u

I duno if it'll work, but I think there's a way to save a backup copy of your current game on a computer. If I'm correct, just figure out how to do this, and if your game corrupts, restart it and load up this backup file. Like I said though, I duno if it's actually possible with this game. Plus you'd have to update this backup rather frequently.

I have noticed a few of my friends having issues with the digital copy for some reason. When I wanted a second copy I just bought another cartridge just in case, only kept it as my cycling town as I haven't the patience to start a whole new town.
Like you say, hopefully they will sort out any problems with this new update. Can't see how they can just leave things as they are with files always getting corrupted and what not

I've been playing the digital copy since release (I originally had the ACNL 3DS but have transferred to a new 3DS), and I've never had that issue. *fingers crossed* So maybe it's not all that common?

Although corruption is common with digital games it can happen with physical copies too. So either way we're all sort of living on the edge haha. I don't think Nintendo will branch out to the digital copies in the update as it seems they're just focusing on the whole amiibo villagers sort of thing and that only but maybe they will who knows. Possibly why they haven't yet is because not a lot of people have been demanding it I guess?

I somehow doubt that Nintendo will ever address the corruption issues that New Leaf has with its digital version, and this is one of the reasons why I have three physical copies of the game. My hubby's first town corrupted (and he has physical copies, too), and I'm of the firm belief that his died because he frequently turned off his 3DS without closing the game software first.

So...just try to take what precautions you can to help your game live as long as possible. I also think it has something to do with the cheap AF SD cards Nintendo packaged with their systems, and I dunno how or even if it's possible to port your game over to a new SD card. If what Bone Baby said about creating a backup file on your computer is possible, then that'd be the way to do it.

i never buy digital nintendo games unless theyre really small for this reason. cant risk it.

best of luck, hope the town lasts

I have a digital copy and physical copy of the game but my main town is saved on my digital copy. I've had the digital copy since 2013 when the game came out and never had problems but hearing things from other people gets me worried.
