I don't know what to do anymore. I remove a bridge so that a villager might request the zen one, but now I realize I can't put the bridge back in the place it was because Kidkat's house is in the way and Isabelle is not letting me build it there!!! And that bridge is super necessary! Maybe I would have to make Kidkat leave but I don't like any other jocks. So I'm super upset, the pwps location in ac is extremely buggy. I hate it =(

This is why I wait for everyone to move in before I put things down, then I work around them

If you wait for everyone to move in you might run into this sort of situation where you want to move bridges but can't... bridges were pretty much the first thing I fixed up and every time I see a thread like this I feel relieved that I did.

None of my villagers moved into potential bridge locations so my answer reflects only to my town :P
I have polite neighbors lol

I actually have one bridge that I can live without if I need to for a while. I will probably remove it for a bit when I get a cranky villager to move in so that I can get the zen bridge, then replace if it I can or wait until I can.

Does anyone know the exact "radius" that new bridges take into consideration when you build one?
I want to replace a certain bridge, and there's nothing particularly close to it, but I'm still scared! I had to demolish two PWPs just to build the last bridge I replaced, and thank GOD the police station wasn't too close, I was terrified it would be!

There used to be a villager house in the exact location I built my campground. Funny thing is, I tried to build a bridge near it when the villager house was there, I couldn't because it was too close to the house. So I waited for the villager to move & built the bridge. Then when I built my campground I didn't think I could put it where it is because it would be too close to the bridge, but I could so I did! One thing I know for sure is that if I ever demolished that bridge I could never rebuild it so I'm NEVER going to demolish it! I have all cobblestone bridges in my town. I like them and I'll probably never replace any of them especially since I have 3 so I never get PWP requests for bridges!

Yeah, I've had some issues with that. I wanted to replace my brick bridges with fairytale bridges, but Zucker moved in so close to one of them that I know that if I demolish it, I won't be able to replace it.

You really need to take another look at all the jocks if Kid Cat's your only favorite.
Also, you can just cycle through 16.
And what do you mean by 'buggy'?

Same thing happened to me. Now I have to wait for Benedict to move, although I'm quite attached to him. Oh well :(

The only issue I had with bridges was making animals moved and stayed away from my bridge spot. I had two that were in the way and it took me 2 months, with time traveling, to get that bridge up. x.x

It's probably not an entirely accurate description, but first off, the bridge's size also includes the two squares of dirt directly touching the bridge on either side. Then the bridge needs, at minimum, possibly more, three more empty spaces on both sides in the same direction as the bridge. (So the bridge is like, 12 spaces long.) And finally the bridge needs each space touching those two spaces on both sides directly touching the bridge to be empty, like any other PWP.

That three space requirement seems to be what causes the most problems. I don't even know why it needs so much space, because you can build new things in that space with no problem, but then demolishing the bridge leaves you unable to rebuild it until you remove the other thing...

The amount of space it takes to build a bridge is pretty huge. It takes a total of 8x8 squares. (though most of it is in the water.

Heres a quick ms paint to kind of illustrate. Flip on its side for horizontal. Not so sure about diagonal.

*the rusty orange blocks would be the no-build zone.

Man, do I know your pain, except that I have the same issue with my mayor's house, which I put too close to where my original bridge was. Once I got the wooden bridge suggested, I demolished the old one because I wanted to switch styles and yeah...no more bridge in that spot. =/ I put it somewhere else now, but it's not even half as good as before. Sigh...

This is definitely not the case, at least for horizontal bridges. I built a bridge with a house below it that would have fallen into that no-build zone, and was unable to build a bridge when there was a house four spaces away, as described above.
