i'm only getting two fossils a day now...

and i'm not sure why. i have searched every single nook and cranny for the other two. they are nowhere to be found! this has been going on for about 3 weeks now. at first i thought maybe the town was protesting my laziness in picking the weeds but i picked them all, my town is back at perfect town status and still only two. i keep searching for the others, slowly going thru my whole town, looking behind trees and checking out my flower beds carefully cause i know it's hard to see the mark when they are next to the flowers but they are just not there. any one have this experience before?

i haven't used my alt character in a month or two, do you think that's why??

Mine was 4 at first, then it went down to 3 if I'm lucky. Or maybe I just can't find them..

I'm having the same problem. I wonder if it is because I have SO MANY FLOWERS or anything else that takes up the space where fossils can appear. I wonder if there is a certain percentage of open space that has to be there to get all 4 fossils to show up. I know that I use to get (15) 100 bell bags from shaking trees, but now I'm lucky if I get 1,000 bells from it. I have less non-fruit & cedar trees than I did at the begining of the games. So I just figured this was a percentage thing also.
I've always wondered, can you go to your own Dream Town and pull all the flowers & chop down all the trees to see if there are any fossils that you are missing?

That used to happen to me, too. I couldn't find all 4 for months in a row. Some days I would, but other days were harder. I think it was because I had so many flowers in my town.

I'm not usually finding 4 ether but today I managed to find 3 but I still don't know why it happens.

I used to find four everyday for a few months. Then it went down to two after put a path/patterns down on the top half of my town. I stopped digging them up for a while now I have four again.

That happened to me too with my 3rd town, good ol' Gensokyo. I could only find 2 fossils every day.

It's probably because "the more free tiles, the more fossils". You probably have less free tiles than before, and that could have lowered the number of fossils you get.

And no, fossils don't appear under flowers.

That's really weird... I didn't know this could happen! I actually dug up all my fossils + pitfall and have them buried on one corner of my town. (I actually finished my fossil collection at the museum, and miraculously, never went on line to hunt for missing fossils. They all spawned in my town). Anyways, this way there are not random "x"s in my town. The only random "x"s are gyroids.

It just happened to me. 2 fossils a day now. I have less flowers than most of you guys so I have lots of space for them to pop out. I noticed the quantity went down after completing the fossils collection of my museum.

I'm pretty sure, unless there's absolutely nowhere for them to spawn (entire town covered in paths, flowers, trees, etc.) you get four fossils every day. You just can't find them all. Also if you don't dig up a fossil it'll stay in the same spot until you do, so it might seem like they've stopped spawning but they're just in the same hiding spot every day

You can't go to your own dream town (unless you have two games) but other people can go to your dream town and look for you, I've done this for a few people, it's really fun

Hummm... Some days I'm on two others I am on 4. My theory is when it rains gyroids come, fossils are replaced by gyroids, I could be wrong.

I do have 2 games. So I might try this out just to see that there really aren't any fossils I just can't find. I have free space around every rock, tree stump and fruit tree so my town is not completely covered in paths or flowers. I still think it's a percentage thing.

I'm also pretty sure there are always 4. There are days I can only find 2 or 3. But by the end of the day, I almost always find the 4th. The spot that usually is hardest for me is just north of a bush. Those I can't find unless I am right on top of them. I'm sure you know the trick of making trees and houses disappear, but just in case someone doesn't, if you hit "up" on the D pad, you only see the terrain. I find my fossils hidden in my orchard this way.

You can visit your own dream town if you get assigned a new dream address. This happened to me once. I have a photo in my albums of my mayor visiting my past mayor.

well, i'm glad i'm not the only one!! i have spent about 30 minutes looking behind every tree/bush, next to flowers....still nothing. my museum is almost complete (only a few more to go!) so i don't know.... lol

It has nothing to do with available spots (or towns overrun with flowers). Mine has plenty of spots for fossils to pop but I still have only 2 per day.

I got 7 in one day one time. But I haven't dug anything up like a week before that so you could probably say I expected it. Oh well... The fossils were pretty bad anyway. Nothing worse than dinosaur eggs... THREE OF THEM TO BE EXACT.

ugh, you're lucky. Fossils take up all my inventory space and as soon as I get them assessed I find more!
