I'm not getting any streetpasses?

So my cousin is staying with me for the weekend and she's brought her 3ds with her updated animal crossing game and for the time she's been here she's streetpassed me like 3 times. Meanwhile I'm getting none? She has her streetpass on and so have I and we get streetpasses for other games we both play but i'm not getting anything for animal crossing. I received a notification saying that there was a home from Shannon from Rosedale, aka me. I was so confused, it's worth noting that I have a second copy of the game which is digital but I have both spotpass and streetpass turned off for that and I don't even have digby standing there so idek. anyone have any suggestions?

I never was able to streetpass either even before the update. I had my boyfriend and I close our 3ds's and just move it next to each other but nope.

Aw, I've been able to streetpass before though. Also, one of my initiatives was to visit the three new homes at the happy home showcase but I don't see nothing new?

You have to reactive streetpass with Digby after the update. I had gotten some but because I hadn't deactivated I couldn't see their houses.

If you update streetpass with Rigby do all the houses already there stay?
