I'm probably going to fail horribly at it but at least I can say I tried. Besides, I need blue, black and purple flowers in order for this butterfly to show up.

Wish me luck in my breeding.

Good luck! Breeding hybrids takes time. Just be patient and I grantee you , you will enjoy it.

Just a quick tip. When breeding them , make sure there are patterns around to prevent villagers from moving in and destroying your work.

:)

Thank you. I'm breeding them on my beach because I read that's it's probably easier to do it that way because, one, villagers rarely ever appear on the beach so they can't trample the flowers and two, villagers can't plot on the beach.

Good luck with your breeding quest! I think I know all the ins and outs of flower breeding, so let me know if you need some tips before you start.

Hybrids are sooo annoying!
Good luck! xD

Aye, they are, but I think determination will get me through this. Funny thing is I have Orange cosmos in my town and I wasn't even trying to get them but I bet you anything now that I'm trying to get certain flowers, it's definitely not going to cooperate with me lol.

and thank you

Thank you. Yeah I'm likely going to have a lot of questions. I'm trying to get Blue pansies, Black roses, and black cosmos. I have my flowers set up like this.

I'm not sure if I have these down the correct way though. Also, should I chop the palm trees down? will they be in the way?

I don't know what I'm doing. -_-

Ho ho ho... Let me give you a few things then:

-Start with isolated pairs first. Don't go for 3+ flowers together - unless they're particular hybrids themselves.
-Try just getting one type of hybrid at a time, as opposed to getting all 3 at once. Chose 1 breed and scatter 7+ pairs of the combination that spawns them all across your beach.
-Blue Pansies = White + White Panies, Black Cosmos = Orange + Orange Cosmos, and Black Roses = Red + Red Roses. I recommend doing the cosmos later - they're the most difficult.
-All those hybrids you want are fairly stable: Once you get 2 of each, these hybrids will spawn more hybrids easily! For a short cut, stop once you get a pair, and go for your next flower, watering the hybrid pair along with it.

I hope this helps!

i really enjoyed breeding when i started my town but i really struggled with blue roses. i think hybrids are best grown diagonally? i read about it during the time i was breeding. good luck!

Okay, I'm going to try for the roses first, since I have a lot of red roses in my town. I'm going to have to go to the island and steal some more though. Also, how many times a day should I water them?

Oh yeah, I'm not even going to try blue ones just yet. Diagonal? Hmm, interesting. I'll put a few of them diagonally as well as right next to each other.

I find that the real orientation doesn't matter - as long as two of the same flower are next to each other and are watered just once, there's a chance they will spawn another flower. Just one watering is fine.

Also, up to five flowers can spawn a day in your town from the pairs you watered. Fertilizer just adds a 6th one to the pairs, a random flower spawns in you mainland each day as a 7th one, and Dandilions/Jacob's ladder count as an 8th/9th one. :)

okay, I just scattered 11 pairs of red roses on my beach and watered them one time. I hope this works. It's funny how I can breed hybrids when I'm not even trying to get hybrids but all nervous and worried because I'm actually trying this time. Thank you Lanstar and everyone else for your help and good luck vibes. I'll let you all know if any hybrids appeared tomorrow.

Oh, I have the beautiful town ordinace. I'm not sure if that makes a difference on hybrid breeding or not. also, does villagers planting flowers count as the 5 flowers that appear every day or no?

I know, I have a lot of questions XD

I've had a relatively good success rate by doing the following (assuming you have fertilizer): Make a 3x3 square of flowers with an empty space in the middle. Bury fertilizer in the middle and water the 8 flowers. This has allowed me to get hybrids with regular flowers fairly consistently and allows for a good daily yield of hybrids if you're already breeding with hybrids (as many as four a day with one fertilizer). Note: just make sure that the 3x3 flowers have nothing surrounding them in a one square area.

Good luck!

Oh, no fear about the questions - I've noticed many people wonder a lot about breeding. :)

Villagers planting flowers are completely independent from the number of flowers the game spawns for you at the start of the day. (I.e., the transition that happens after 6 a.m.) Villagers can add indefinite numbers of flowers to this number each day, and do so when... they feel like it.

Also, I think the Beautiful ordinance doesn't increase the flower count, nor the hybrid chances: It just prevents the flowers you don't water from wilting. But just this alone is very helpful, as you then get to choose the ones you wish to water without fear - and thus the ones that will likely spawn flowers.
