I'm giving New Leaf another shot, with something new.

Ever since I came across this forum way back in 2016, I've been playing New Leaf pretty similarly to everyone else. Themes, etc. Granted I've done themes before I found this place, albeit not too much. I started going for dreamies and all that jazz.

Last night while I was playing my current town, I got to thinking and thought to myself: "I kind of miss playing New Leaf like I didn't care about every little detail in my town."

And that leads me to this post (which was delayed due to the unscheduled maintenance, lol). I decided to ditch my current town and give New Leaf one last shot and just not worry about dreamies and the like. Just gonna do whatever.

Granted I'll probably still get Skye and Wolfgang. I can't live without them. I'm not really going to go for any theme, I'm just going to build up my town and see what it ends up like. I'm also going to let my 8 villagers move when they please and let new ones move in their place. Though Skye and Wolfgang stay. They're banned from leaving, lol.

I'll also try to be more open about time traveling, which is something I've come to dislike since I joined this forum. But I won't abuse it, just the occasional time alterations for fish, etc if I'm up to it.

Good to hear that you're playing AC:NL and potentially trying a new variation of gameplay.

I've played half my towns with themes and villagers in a structured manner, and the remaining four have been played with a laissez-faire attitude. Both styles have been enjoyable for me. Hope you enjoy your new town.

IMHO, time traveling is a good thing!

I'm doing something a bit similar as well to keep me busy while waiting for new horizons! But instead I'm trying to play it without time travel, without really worrying about theming, and also not purchasing any villagers or items online! Time Travel can be alot of fun though!

I stopped playing New Leaf for a while bc I got too stressed about it, I just don't worry about villager placement or a specific theme either anymore. I have a wishlist but if I don't find the stuff it's eh. I'm also just passing time until NH!

I play like that lol I just play it to fool around in a made up place which is far better than reality.

I definitely feel you on that! I had duped tons of Royal crowns in my first town then I was like "??? Now what!?" Lol I bought another copy and started over similar to this. Only really TTing when something is closed and I'm annoyed about it lol. The only thing I care about is who's in my town but I don't TT to get them out, just wait it out lol.

I feel the same way too, I?ve been working so hard on a town that follows a strict theme but honestly it?s tiring and I kind of miss when my town was natural and I didn?t have to worry about taking care of it so much. I think there?s fun aspects to it that way. It?s also fun if you?re leaving your town open to all villagers and someone new moves in, but you end up actually liking them. I kinda miss when my town wasn?t so altered tbh. The towns always look pretty natural anyways!

Yeah I’m starting to play acnl again too ~ I’ve just made my new Harry Potter themed town. :)

I finished my main town for the most part, and I have a second copy I think I’m gonna try this method with, at least for a little while. I think the stress was worth it in my first town because I really love how it looks, but I wasn’t playing the game how it’s meant to be played lol.
