We've had plenty of other Nintendo games featured in the banner for their release, like Pokemon X&Y, A Link Between Worlds, That one Mario game for crazy cat ladies, etc.

I think the only exception to the Nintendo-only thing was throwing Snake in the banner for Ground Zeroes.

Because not much user input was involved, a lot of the staff were excited over mario kart 8. I mean, unless you wanna force Thunder into slave labour, be my guest.
