I'm Back !! What have I missed ?

Hey Guys ! A few of you may remember me from a couple of years ago, I was a daily player for long time and decided to give the game a rest as I felt burnt out and sold my 3DS (But of course not my Animal Crossing cart ) so recently when the 2DS XL launched I felt ready to come back and I'm absolutely buzzing ! For one I completely missed the big update ! Can anyone give me a brief rundown of what's involved ? I've seen the Campground, which is awesome ! Anything else I've missed ?

I look forward to talking, playing and trading with some of you in the future, I currently have 0 friends on my new console so feel free to add my friend code and come and visit my town, thank god I had the perfect town ordinance on ! I think if I'd have come back and all my flowers had gone I'd have thrown the game and console in the bin !

Welcome back! As for the update, there's obviously the addition of the campground but now there's amiibo functionality. You can scan villagers into the campground using amiibo cards, and invite them to come live in your town! I believe the link amiibo and Zelda amiibo as well as the three splatoon amiibo, and the monster hunter amiibo are now functional too and have their own special villagers and furniture that go with the statue respectfully which can also be invited into town. Villagers also take longer than 5 days to ping for a move out request and now take 7 days. So if you catch them on any of those 7 days, they'll request to move. Which is great if you can't always play. There's now the system of meow coupons (the orange cat looking machine outside the town-hall) which is used as currency for the campground. Villagers don't move onto paths or patterns on the ground. But it doesn't stop them from bulldozing your flowers or trees

yes, there are daily and weekly challenged that earn you meow coupons, which is the currency used to buy welcome amiibo items. each day, harvey (the drunk dog in the campground lol) sells two unorderable items (you can't reorder them from your catalog) for 5 meow coupons each, and each day, you can buy up to three items from an rv! if the rv is in your campground, rv items are 3 meow coupons, and if you're visiting an rv parked in someone else's town, each rv item is 5 meow coupons!

all welcome amiibo items are unorderable, which makes them so highly sought after- retail has turned into a black market of unorderables, haha!!

I'm a bit confused as to how the amiibos work ? Let's say I bought the "Blathers" Amiibo, rubbed the genie lamp and presented it to the bottom screen, what exactly would happen ?

If you use an amiibo figure, you can invite Blathers to the campground and you can buy some special furniture from his RV.
If you use a villager card, you can either ask the villager to move in or ask them to give you a random piece of furniture.

Btw to see your current challenges click on the town card button. At the top you switch between your card and your list of challenges. When completed you will get a stamp next to it and you can collect your coupons from the meow machine by the town hall.
