If you gift your villagers fruits and iron wall lamps, does that still count as ungifted?

In order to preserve my villagers original clothing and house, I’ve only ever given them items that they don’t display, such as fruits, iron wall lamps, and big fossils, but does that still count as ungifted, since I technically did gift them?

It technically doesn't if you give wall furniture and fossils because at some point, they will start taking down existing furniture because of it.
The only way to be completely ungifted is to give fruit, shells, etc. Stuff that can't be placed.
