It's probably the farthest thing from emo.

Skillet has a progression. In 2004 they released Collide, a hard rock CD that talked about when faith and fear 'collide'.

In 2006 they released the CD Comatose which is their most popular CD by far. First you 'collide' then that puts you in a Comatose. It dealt with issues like cutting and feelign alone. How can we help these people when we're in a comatose? We've been desensitised to the lies of the world. All the wars, hatred, and bigotry are the cause and effect of living in fear.

Now, in August 2009, Skillet will release Awake, a project that will challenge listeners to Awake from their comatose and step out to change the world. filled with orchestrated rock, heavy riffs, monstrous hooks, and thoughtful ballads, Skillet will once again change the way people think about themselves, the world, and God.

Just because they yell (kind of) doesnt make it "emo."

They're a christian band, fyi. They sing about getting through bad times, god, and stuff like that.

I know a lot of bands that sing about all those, and they are not even christian/
And it was not because they yell, it just sounded emo-ey.

And I knew they were christian rock.
Never liked Christian Rock though.

Don't judge them just because they're Christian.

Skillet has done some really unique stuff in the past such as Alien Youth and Invincible. You should try listening to those.

I'm going to see them in Ft Wayne on the AAA Tour this fall. It's the first show, too, so I'm really excited. Skillet puts on the most amazing live show ever, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a panhead. If you haven't seen them, you really need to.

Skillet is lyrically one of the most impressive bands out there. John Cooper's songwriting has saved several of my friend's lives and so I will be eternally grateful to him.
