In New Leaf, there was the glorious Tortimer Island, which was a spot for players to meet each other, buy items, set up tours, gather resourses, and goof around however you wished. You could even decorate the island, although you were limited to flowers, hibiscus bushes, and trees.
Now, just imagine this feature coming back to New Horizons. The place might have similar rules of old: You can't bring anything with you upon entering it, and have to keep the things you wish to bring back in a box. But on your single player island, you could decorate it by using the materials you find on the island to craft things. Perhaps we could allow friends stop by to help decorate it as well. All of this is separate from the 'Tour Islands' where you'd play games, as well as the point system for getting items.
If we were considering the functions of this new Tortimer Island, how large would you want it to be?
Note that an 'inland acre' is a 16x16 plot, while 'beach acres' in this game tend to have much less landmass than this - Especially within the rocks up north. For reference, a Mystery Island has only 1 inland acre, surrounded by 8 beach acres to make a 3x3 square. Our main island, in comparison, has 20 acres inland, and 22 beach acres to make a 7x6 rectangle. Hopefully this helps to imaging the scale of such island.
