Pokémon if the mascot of pokemon was changed?

Considering the protagonist of the anime (and manga), the second choice would probably be Charmander (or maybe even Charizard).

I'd be fine with Marill as the mascot, though. Pikablu!
...I'm curious as to how many people are going to get the "pikablu" joke...

Fun fact! It's pretty likely that the pokemon mascot was going to be a Clefairy, but due to a few last minute changes in the pokemon anime, Clefairy was replaced with Pikachu.

Aw...you beat me to mentioning that!

I like eevee myself. It has so many choices in evolution, a vast potential that relates well to Ash's constant efforts to be the best at whatever he does and yet always having something more to pursue even when one challenge is done with. Maybe I'm reading too deeply into it but it seems that having the potential to always be more yet never changing who you are at heart is part of the reason pikachu never evolves, I just think eevee would do it better.

Symbolic reasons aside, I just like eevee. I think it's gender-neutral enough to be suitable for everyone while still being adorable enough to qualify as the token cute mascot. Don't get me wrong, I like cubone too but not everyone finds skulls as adorable as I do.

Haaaa... Pikablu. I remember that. And all the, so called, methods to get him. Such as getting the 'hidden stairs' under mewtwo in gen 1 to appear via a complicated set of steps.

Nahhh. He was in the 'Pokegod land' along with 'Bruno', accessible in the back of Bill's house once you've beaten the elite four 100 times, complete the Pokedex and get all Pokemon to level 100.

If they were to change the mascot, it would most likely be a Pokemon that is popular. I'm surprised Charizard isn't one by now.

But in reality, they'd most likely make it so it appeals to both males and females.

p much this.

if they changed it i can see them changing it to a well known pokemon - but not really charizard since it probably would only appeal to mostly boys.

if they were to change it they'd probs pick the pikachu clone from each gen (maril, plusle/minun, **** the others except emolga), or idk snorlax or mewtwo and mew iunno

there's no point in changing it tho so

I actually like Pikachu. Sorry!
If the mascot had to be changed, I don't think I'd pick Cubone. He's got a great backstory, for sure, but Batman is not someone that should head a series like Pokemon. <:
I'd pick... Ho-Oh or Growlithe because he's my fave <333
Seel is cute, too <33 Dratiniiiii <333
Also, Donai Yanen Yadon <3333

It seems like Pikachu was kind of "forced" as the mascot because of the anime. There are any number of cute Pokemon which could have become the mascot (they could have even made Meowth a protagonist in the anime). As far as the games go, Pikachu is not even a fully evolved Pokemon and Raichu sucks for battling. I think it should either be Charizard because it is the evolved form of the most popular starter of Red and Blue, or Mewtwo because it is the best Pokemon that existed in the original games. The mascot should definitely be from Red or Blue because those games got the series and everything that spinned off it going.

I don't really like Pikachu I'd it would be cool if they changed it ;P I'd want Luxray or Shinx owo But I'd be happy with pretty much anything else. Except Stunfisk. ANYTHING but stunfisk. kill stunfisk

I wouldn't care at all if the mascot was changed. Pikachu would still be my favourite because of sentimental reasons.

Well yes Pikachu was heavily marketed, but if kids were drawn to Meowth over Pikachu, he would have become popular enough to overshadow Pikachu.
+ I don't think Pokemon's mascot should be based on power. Powerful Pokemon already are ultra popular and have the distinction of being legendary (usually) or rare. The mascot should have the widest appeal across genders and age-groups and should exhibit well the equal importance of befriending Pokemon, making Pokemon strong, and exploring the world of Pokemon. (Catching a lot of Pokemon lies on the protag and the other pokemon making good first impressions). Pikachu is a good fit for all of these categories except the becoming strong one because in game Pikachu can only become very strong once he evolves... That's why Growlithe is the best choice~ <3

Clefairy was the original choice of GF,but they thinked it was too girly.Meh.If Clefairy was the mascote?
