I'm decorating multiple villagers houses in my towns, and I want to know if I gave them Gracie furniture, will they keep it or replace it like a normal piece of furniture?

I know that certain animals who have Gracie furniture like Olaf, Flurry, Zell & Phoebe, 9 times out of 10, will not sell it to me if I went to their house. They also have some furniture they will not sell to me no matter what, because for whatever reason they want to be stubborn.

Villagers tend to have furniture pieces they like to replace and will ask to replace more than once, ex Flurry's bed. If I gave her a princess bed, will she treat it like any old furniture and keep asking me to replace it? Or will she keep it?

One more thing, if I were to do this, should I send it to them in a letter or give it to them when they ask me for furniture to decorate their house with?

Since I tend to learn things the hard way I thought I’d just share my opinion for what it’s worth... You know those lists on the internet that tell you what villagers like? My experience is they ALL like Gracie’s stuff but will ALSO like regular stuff just as much if it’s something from their preferred items list. But if you’ve got the bells and won’t get upset if it disappears one day, try it to see?

Never send it to them in a letter. Only give them the furniture during a request to replace a certain item, and even then you should always do it when they are in their house so you can see them replace it with your own eyes I can't speak for how easily/quickly they replace it afterwards... (I've seen a villager put out a gift I gave them at Retails like a day after it was gifted -_-) but after you get what you want in there, it's best you don't do any other requests for that villager. ie. another villager asking to give a gift to that certain villager. That will minimise the chance they'll replace it with things like fish and other furniture. I also don't think you can replace things like flooring and wallpaper. But wow, redecorating a villager's house is really hard work so kudos and good luck!!!

If it's any help, I once gave a villager a Resetti model.
They didn't think any more highly of it even though it's unorderable, and I eventually replaced it through a letter or a request to swap it with something else. I don't remember specifically which it was.

I know that Mint had a Gracie item in her house originally, but it eventually got replaced by a regular green dresser. I don't remember if I gave her the dresser or if it was a gift from another villager, but they will potentially replace Gracie furniture if they get something that's the same size. The Gracie item that she replaced just disappeared. She has never offered it to me or put it up at Retail because it's a special item.

I think it's odd the items that they will hold onto and the ones they want to replace. Mint also got a genie lamp at some point that I kept trying to replace with items of the same size and in her preferred color and style, but she would always put them somewhere else. She hung onto that genie lamp for months. But the items that were her recommended color and style, she would ping me to replace them the very next day sometimes.

There's just no way of telling what those silly villagers will decide to cling to.

@Darby I actually don't check their prefered list for decorating their house, I go with their style ex Flurry is white blue and pink, and her house has a nice low key elegance to it (walling and flooring-wise) so I give them stuff to match their walling, flooring, their color scheme and what they won't give up. But I'm gonna look that up now, maybe it'll help with animals like Sterling who WONT ping me to decorate their house. I have so much good stuff thou ;_;

@Dizzy bones yup, now that I give them WA stuff, I HAVE to be in their house, otherwise they won't put it out. One time I made Fauna buy a bread basket from ReTail for her house. She never used it. Thanks for to telling me not to give it in a letter.

@Snowesque I gave Sterling somethin like that, a treasure chest and he never used it. It would have gone so good in his house thou.

@LadyDestani augh the villagers are so stubborn. Some of them hang on to the stupidest stuff. The fact that she replaced the Gracie item, lame. None of my animals have done that yet, and I hope they dont. Phoebe's gorgeous bed goes with the theme I'm makin her have for her house.

I replaced Chrissy's bed with a gorgeous one and she hasn't replaced after over a year of having it. :3 Meanwhile, I gave Kiki a cabana bed with the sheets customized yellow and she will allow me to buy it when I go over to her house (she has also asked me to replace it but I didn't).

Therefore, in my experience, giving them a Gracie furniture piece is a pretty safe bet.

I want to give Flurry the princess bed in exchange for her current bed, but the bed is an item she replaces, so I'm wary. I guess I could fill ReTail then never do delivers for her again/give her any reason to replace the bed.

I realized that Sterling used to have the gorgeous table in his house and somehow replaced it with an office desk. He has yet after all this time ask me to replace it. It's so ugly in his house too.
