Title says it all! I'm in search of ideas for a western themed town! This includes pwps, villagers, flowers/bushes, housing items, etc!

I am thinking cows/bulls, horses, pigs and possibly even chickens and/or sheep would be perfect!

I would really love to make the whole town be dirt except for a few areas- I'm sure the villagers wouldn't be too happy with this (and it would take me AGES) but it's something that I think would be a cute little addition!

run everywhere and kill all the flora

this is the wild west, not nature's nest

also, looking at pwps, some that come to mind:
fence
water well
fire pit
water pump
drilling rig

maybe:
solar panels
parabolic antenna
street light

actually very few of the pwps seem to work for a wild west theme imo, which has me mildly disappointed

the flowers must die

those are great suggestions! also, maybe the bell, in front of a little chapel/school house could work too

maybe even the geyser to represent a geyser field

and maybe the windmill or wind turbine (I'd most likely use the windmill in the case of keeping it rural)

the scarecrow might be fun to use in a dirt field, surrounded by dead crops lmao

yeah the lack of pwps fitting a western theme is seriously disappointing wow

The PWPs mentioned above work pretty well thou

Good luck with having an all dirt town without hacking! Sounds like ALOT of hard work, I've never seen an all dirt town that wasn't hacked.

For housing items, cabin and lots of wood stuff.

Also a little jail house for the local sheriff.

oof yeah! it's gonna be a pain haha, but worth it! I personally don't like hacks or use them (I respect the ideas and like to see hacked towns! just isn't my thing <3) so accomplishing an all dirt town is going to be a tough job

yeah! as well as the jail, I was also thinking a little saloon! That would be pretty adorable
and a general store!

plan on using the tumbleweed housing item somewhere in one of my character's houses!

my mayor's house is probably going to be pretty fancy, given that he's the mayor after all

oh man this has me super excited haha

Log bench could work.
If you want to keep the dirt pathways avoid winter and time traveling in a large period of time. The snow will cover your dirt pathways and grass will regrow in the Spring.

You could fish for trash. The empty can and boot might work around a fire.

Cute! I was thinking of doing this but it never really developed and I ended up with a complelty different idea.
You could make a cute dairy farm or a saloon.

Some nice villagers:
Annalise
Elmer
Patty
Vic
Winnie
T bone
Broffina

Oooh so many villager possibilities. You have an idea of the species so my bad if the commentary below is redundant to you:

I'm not sure if you have access to her from the corresponding LoZ Amiibo figurine, but I'd like to recommend Epona as a villager. My partner has her in his town and she has the most quaint house. c: If not, others have suggested the horse villagers that can take her place just fine.

There's also Clay, who really looks like a bandit to me. He has a bonfire in his house as well as the garden wall + western desert combo going on. Roscoe could also be part of the outlaw gang as a bandit. :3 I also imagine Curlos as fitting in with that town theme.

The racks of rice PWP could be a really nice feature for the town. I don't see it used too often.

Kody(top),Ricky(middle) and Grizzly(bottom) all have Western themed houses. There's also articles of clothing that make up the cowboy outfit:western shirt, western pants, cowboy boots, outback hat.

To make an ideal Wild West town, I definitely recommend the following ideas for the landscaping:

- To make it less of a hassle, I highly recommend only making part of the town desert and instead have a gold mining/prospector camp in a green, temperate area (with cedar trees as if it was in the Rockies) along the river (definitely recommend by the waterfall, especially if it is in the northwest corner of town). :) Definitely include gold nuggets somehow!

- Additionally, have a green area along the river with regular trees, cosmos, holly & sweet olive bushes, and certain fruit trees you could see growing in the Wild West (like peaches) in certain areas. I definitely recommend having a desert "ravine" portion with the swinging wood bridge as the bridge used along that sector.

- For the desert portion, I highly recommend using cosmos for flowers (since they look great in arid areas like the sandy beach), dead trees, tree stumps, identified/unidentified fossils, rare mushrooms (to be random "rocks"), possibly make cool designs to spruce up that wildwest desert feel (like rock designs).

- For the paths, I definitely recommend natural dirt paths with some sort of pattern and clovers in the green areas and special dirt path designs for the desert region.

I hope these ideas help a ton! :)

actually a thought for getting rid of the grass: if you wanted to, you could just invite 3 friends over for you to all just run around everywhere and destroy everything

just be sure to get rid of all the trees to make it easier, as well as make sure nothing important can be taken or anything beforehand (as this entire process would be done with no supervision, for fastest results)

ok, one more idea for grass removal

if you didn't care about the obscene cost, you could also just build and demolish pwps all over the place too

That definitely would be very effective, but it would be very time consuming as well without time traveling. This could work well though if you used PWPs to punch holes/weaken the grass all over the place which would make it easier to trample. :)

You could just plot a new saved file instead of building PWP. Plot, save/quit and than erase the plot. Add a new plot in a different spot and repeat.

I'm.... actually not sure why this didn't occur to me

granted, you'd still have the smaller areas houses won't fit into left that you'd need to either use smaller pwps or manually trample to remove the grass, but yeah. this should save a ton of time and money regardless

- - - Post Merge - - -

also adding to this: you could also use amiibo cards to move in and kick out villagers at a rapid pace as well

Smart

I also recommend the totem pole PWP for maybe like a little native settlement village.

thank you everyone for the lovely ideas! they are very helpful and I'll definitely be using them to make my life a little easier haha <3

Haven't read up much on the thread yet, but have you considered making a house for the general store? You know those old-time stores where all the country folk would come to get their clothes, food, and everything in one nice spot.

Do some searches for old west general store. Like in this picture, you could use the old-time cash register furniture piece.
