“This is the worst island I’ve seen all day” omg this is the poorest display of humanity I’ve certainly seen all day. What a ridiculous thing to say to someone.
If it’s any consolation, in my experience griefers pick at things they think people will be sensitive about, not things they actually think are bad. This person probably thought you had put a lot of time into your island and would be (rightfully) touchy about it being insulted. I’m sure your island is super beautiful!! I hope you’re feeling okay now.

Honestly why would you take the time to type this out on the switch's awful keyboard to someone? That says a lot about someone's character. I really hope it's not someone in this community here on TBT.

Don't take what some rude, random stranger says, too much to heart. The opinion of someone like that should count for nothing. Easier said than done, I know. As I get older, I care less and less what strangers think. Your friends and family, those who actually know you, may have an opinion with some value. Things said just to hurt? Let those slide off... Don't put any stock into the trash talk some random throws at you. If anything, they're probably just salty their island looks like **** and they're projecting.
I’ve traveled to other island for all kinds of trades, better turnips prices etc, and I’ve never seen an ugly island I really don’t think there is such thing as an ugly island everyone has a unique style or a theme. Some don’t like decorating it too much and other decorate it everywhere, I really don’t think it matters everyone’s island is beautiful whether they just started or have invested hundreds of hours into the game. These people were just being rude and wanted to hurt you, don’t let them bring you down! I’m sure your island is lovely! 
Wow that's such a rude thing to say. Why do they bother visiting anyone with that attitude? Since you mentioned you met them on a dodo code exchange app I'd honestly imagine this person is just going to random islands and telling people the same thing all day for fun. Says way more about them and their issues than your island! I'm sure your island looks amazing

Just ignore them. Some People are trying to be mean, just to get attention at any price or to process something bad what happened to them in real life, so they are going to verbally beat up other people. Or just because they simply like to cause havoc. If nobody can make constructive criticism, they should just not open their mouths and make feel others bad for that much effort which was made into their work.

I'm sorry you had to run into such a rude person, if it makes you feel any better, my island if full of a bunch of half completed projects... mainly because I'm broke and can't afford to move a lot of stuff at once... plus I don't have a lot of creativity. But at the end of the day what's important is what you think about your island and how much time you've put into it! Like, I know my island does not not look good by any means, but I like it, it's a work in progress!
they're a troll, or just a huge ******* and are lame as hell for making animal crossing some kind of competition. who does that??? I know it's hurtful since we do make our islands very personal, especially during this pandemic. but I guarantee they just wanted to hurt your feelings, i'm sure your island is great.

I now understand why people apologize so much for having "ugly" islands. I've literally told like 10 people that I did not give a flying eff about how their island looked, especially if it was in the works!
