~Dreaming of Farmtown~
The path around your plaza was really earthy and nice, but there was a bit missing where I assume Redd has been. Not a big issue, just something to note. Your flowers around it were really nice. The colours that you had chosen worked nicely together. The placing of the path lakes looked really great with the paths, but I think I walked into them several times. I'm so glad Animal Crossing isn't real sometimes. Would you consider edging that somehow to make it easier to stay out of the water? That's just me being picky.
Your little farm in the northern corner was really cute. I now see why you called your town Farmland. The row of apple trees in that area is also nice. It feels neat and organised while still looking organic. The narrow paths were hard to keep to at times but OMG, that fence with the chickens in it was adorable! It feels a bit 2 dimensional (obviously because it is), but that can't be helped.
It was sometimes difficult to follow the path exactly. I would occasionally just walk off it, cruse around for a little while and then find my way back onto it again.
Ms. Mary's house: First of all, I loved how you matched that dress to the elegant hat. That was cute, and the house itself seemed to match her attire, which was also charming. The flower shop in the main room was a good idea, but I felt like it was maybe a bit empty. I know that with a shop you always want plenty of room to walk around, but there scarcely is. Would you consider pushing the fan, corner checkout and sofa forwards one space and putting a few items behind them facing the other way maybe? That was just a suggestion. I liked the room, but the floor felt jarring and disconnected from the rest of the room. It felt too harsh against the more natural feel of the room.
The teddy-bear picnic thing you had going on out the back was actually a really good idea. I did feel a bit sorry for the slave-bee that was in the cage near the honey stand, but everything was well thought out, and there was a hint of humour in the room, which was good. Again, the middle of the room felt a little bare, but putting anything there would feel unnecessariy and make the room feel crowded, so it's not a bad thing in this case.
The refurbished alpine furniture upstairs looked great altogether. I'm not usually a fan of mismatched carpets and wallpapers, but in this case it actually worked really well, and I love that you used Ms. Mary's clothing design on all the furniture. That room felt full without being crowded. It just seemed like a cottage home, which is what it looked like from the outside. That continuity from outside to in was really good.
The town flag was great; the level of detail in it was astounding, and it fit the town perfectly.
Aw, MacDonald is so cute, and the cabbages around his house! Classic. The main room of his house had this great, warming feel of a cabin in the snow, although it's not exactly what I would associate with a farmer. The cow hide and cow print used to furnish seems to suggest a hunter more than a farmer to me, but that's just my opinion.
All those zodiac chickens! My gosh! There were heaps! That room was great. I thought it suited the character really well. The room out back with the pigs was cute. I thought you carried the farmer theme through the house really well. The kitchen had that warm togetherness that you want a kitchen to have, but all that pink! Poor MacDonald... The cabin room upstairs was cute. So many chickens...
Bo Peep's house with all the clothes in it felt pretty authentic. I liked the pictures of the sheep. A bit of comedy never hurt anyone. The room out back was simple but really cute. I liked how you had all the sewing stuff upstairs, the loom and the spindle and whatnot. It helped to carry through the theme of the house, although I am beginning to wonder where this poor girl sleeps. Would you consider putting a small bed in there, maybe just with a bedside table or something? Or even put the bedroom in a separate room. I don't know. I just feel like there needs to be a bedroom somewhere. The house was very cute, though.
Muffin Man ~ Ooooh, that house! He mustn't feel very masculine. Inside the house, again it felt a little bit girly, but the layout was very good. There was enough space to walk around, but the rooms didn't feel empty, which was good.
Overall, I felt your town flowed really well. Like what you've done with JOY, you have a clear idea of who all your characters are supposed to be, and you've represented that in their houses, too, which is great to see. You seem to have a skill with matching up different types of furniture and making them work in a room, which is rare to see. I loved a lot of parts in your town, but my favourite was the drinking fountain. I'll upload the picture to my first post.
Thank you for letting me dream of your town ~
