On a whim I decided to check on the whole dead zone issue with trees/shrubs, because of all the little details they changed/added after the update. I have a bunch of shrubs in my storage and tried planting one in a spot where NOTHING would grow, TT to tomorrow and it ACTUALLY grew!

I dunno if anyone else has already noticed this, but I'm really excited that Nintendo seems to have addressed this completely annoying issue.

oh really??
ill have to try to plant some starts in dead zones i have in my town. i hope this is fixed bc it prevents me from landscaping creatively

I'm getting ready to plant some more shrubs in my other dead areas, to see if they all grow, too.

Well I just planted stuff in some of my other dead spots and... they're still dead spots. :(

Ughhh bushes are the weirdest thing! I remember there was this one spot where a bush would never grow. There weren't even 16 consecutive bushes in a row and it wasn't close to a building, rock, or water, so there shouldn't have been an issue. After like 10+ tries, the bush finally grew in that spot. I still have no idea what the problem was, but it's really annoying...

Do you mind telling me what deadzones are exactly and what causes them? Thanks! :)

I wish the update had allowed us to plant cedars in the south part of town. It really bugs me you can't plant anything there, as my towns are supposed to be forests ><

I didn't even know such a thing existed, I've never encountered any! At least not yet anyway. Does anyone know if there are deadzones in every town? How common are they? I'm still planting a lot of my bushes and this has me a little concerned. I'm assuming fertiliser has no effect?

They're pretty common, and they're a huge pain in the ass, I don't know why they'd implement such a terrible feature, but it's there, and it's the main reason that i started a second town where I allow myself to hack bushes, and trees into positions they shouldn't be able to.

Wow, I've honestly never seen any yet. My town is three years old with trees planted in a lot of areas, and yet I've never seen anything wither unless I placed it somewhere stupid and learned from it. They're bound to be there somewhere, I guess. Well that's made landscaping a hell of a lot scarier. :v

"Dead zones" for bushes aren't really a thing as far as I've heard, there's just a limit to how many bushes you can have in one area. This is probably to stop people from planting bushes around houses and stuff, completely preventing access.

You can never block entrance to something, it won't grow if it'll block the exit/entrance to something, there's a limit of 16 bushes in a row, but they're still subject to dead zones, and they ruined a lot of the dreams that I had for my main town, I'm still happy with it, but it is compromised.

I don't mean planting things right next to the entrance to something, I mean completely circling something with bushes. The bushes would be far enough away from the building to grow, but there would be no way to get to the building.

Also, are you sure that you haven't exceeded the bush limit for the area? It also counts trees/bamboo next to bushes. have you tried digging up a couple other bushes in the area and planting in the supposed dead zone again?

I know, I'm saying that you cannot make a circle with bushes/trees, the game won't allow you to, if you try one of them will grow up wilted so that you can access the area.

Of course, but dead spots are dead spots, there's nothing you can do about them sadly, unless you hack, which I won't do in my main town.

I know that you can't make a circle around a building, that's what I said the bush limit was for in my first post. So that these circles can't be made.
