I still want to play ACNL with others, but...

I need a break from this forum. I always do this. Anytime I join an online community I start feeling really, really lonely... How can I manage to still play ACNL with other people?

You can always go island hopping if you feel a forum break is needed. I personally use line messenger to keep in contact with people who would open their gates to play and vice versa.

Island hoping is a great way to meet knew people or keeping in contact using discord/skype with a few people you enjoy the company of may allow you to keep in contact with people you want to play with

I think we've traded or at least communicated before - so if you want to, you can just drop by my town when I'm online, and we can hang out. I usually leave my gate open for my friends, so feel free to visit me anytime.

I just got back from a break from this forum myself. I don't see myself staying here for any longer either, but it does feel nice to come back for a bit.

I suggest you should try out different forms of communicating with other players. And I'm not talking about forums. Stuff like Skype and Tumblr is also great for keeping in touch with other players.

And if you'd like, I wouldn't mind spending time with you on ACNL. I still haven't made any friends on this website, so it'll be great if we done at least something if you want to.

Maybe this issue is you don't know very much about the other people on this thread because no one talks about anything other than animal crossing? I definitely feel closer to people if I know a bit about them, like their favorite flavor of Popsicle or if they've ever played an instrument.

This is very true! I'd rather know people more personally, so I get drawn to the Brewster's Cafe, only to find that everybody gets criticized when ever they say anything deep or interesting about themselves. And especially if it's something "unpleasant" and they're seeking help. It makes me so sad. I get the feeling that only joking is acceptable and I'm a very serious, literal, and sympathetic person, so it doesn't mix well.

I had an idea. Maybe staying exclusively in the ACNL section will make me feel better. I changed my shortcut from the main page to the ACNL section, so I will feel less like looking elsewhere.
