Seems silly they'd only temporarily remove something. It is Nintendo, though, so it's possible, but I'm skeptical overall.

I know personally I accidentally gave the wrong shirt to Merengue and have asked for it to be removed 3 times and still see it. It could remove customs though, but certainly not regular clothing.

Wow that really surprises me. I always assumed those options reverted them to their default wardrobe/catchphrase for this reason specifically. I wonder if that feature is working as intended? If it's something you really are bothered by you might want to try contacting Nintendo.
