It hurts the first couple of days.. but then you get used to them but they suck xD

braces ..... oh boy. I had them for 2 1/2 years and got them off a year ago. I actually thought the spacers hurt more than getting the actual braces on. From what I remember, the first couple of hours you have braces it doesn't hurt but then progressively the pain gets worse. I would suggest taking a pain reducer after you get them on so it has time to kick in before it hurts. Also, get soft foods ... because that is all you will be able to eat for a couple days. When I got mine, biting down on food hurt sooo bad. But don't worry it's not that terrible. It will stop hurting after a couple days and it will all be worth it for straight teeth 
#1. I have braces, and they are annoying. The orthadontics people tell you not to eat hard stuff or anything good; at first you'll try to listen to them, then you'll just forget and eat hard chips.
#2. When you first get them on they hurt extremely bad, it hurts just to eat soft food. It's like someone takes a hammer and hammers at each and every one of your teeth.
#3. Dental care sucks and flossing is a pain. I never do floss because... omg do they really expect you to floss behind all of that metal junk?
#4. The pain and annoyance and uncomfort doesn't end after your first appointment. Every month you gotta lay down and let someone stick their hands in your mouth, jab n poke, tighten this... and the next few days your teeth hurt pretty bad and are sore.
#5. I've heard that after braces you gotta wear an annoying retainer.
#6. You'll soon get over the fact that you have braces.

right about the pressure and uncomfort. But when you first get them on thats when they hurt the worst.mirandi said:getting them off doesn't really hurt per say, it's just a lot of pressure and a little discomfort. After they are all off you are sore for a few days, but no pain. You'll be fine.

they hurt really bad! lol jk i never had them. that must suck really bad though
i've never had braces, but i had a friend who every month he would come to school with a terrible headache because he would have to get his braces tightened... it's just a severe soreness you'll have to deal with, i'm assuming.

Getting them on, it's just discomfort getting them on and lots of pressure, you'll be pretty sore the next few days and will probably be living off soup for a few days. Take some advil or something and the pain should ease up, after about a week or two the pain subsides and you get use to them. When you get the bands changed that pain only last about a day or two.

It's not THAT bad. Sure, you'll get comments like 'Hey Metal Mouth!' and 'BRACE FACE!' 'n' all kinds ofstuff like that... Well that's really never happened to me so... well if they do that, atleast you have a reason to sue 'em... Unless their your friend... but then their not really too good of a friend, now are they...
