I miss Tortimer Island :(

I really hope Nintendo adds it back in an update. The Island tours were so much fun, especially the match game and hide and seek mini games.

Also it was a great place to farm sharks and beetles even when in the middle of winter.

Right, after you hunt for fossils, check out the shops and Nook Mile store, and talk to all your islanders and any special visitors, there really isn't much else to do, even with multiplayer there really isn't much to do when people visit.

At least with the island, you can go there any time you want and play the mini games as many times as you want.

They don't even have to have a separate island for Tortimer. Just stick him on the Mystery Islands or something.

I remember when Nintendo was announcing the game in 2019 and they said they were delaying a little bit to put in mechanics to make sure people didn’t play ALL day/get too obsessed.

So I think the slowness at the beginning and the 1-2 hours it takes to do dailies reflects that.

I get them not wanting people to play all day, understandable, although it shouldn't be up to Nintendo how long we decide to play our game we paid $60 for.

Mini games really should be added back, they should give us that at least.

Well, there's still the dock which has no use so far. I could imagine Kapp'n showing up there and offer you (along with your friends) to bring you to an upgraded version of Tortimer's Island. I at least wouldn't mind for said island to be back, having some mini games and seeing Kapp'n's family again sounds nice to me.

Yeah, the dock really serves no purpose, (besides being the place where dock only fish spawn) so hopefully it will be a place for Kapp'n's boat to dock and take you Tortimer Island.

While it shouldn't be up to them, Nintendo has been pushing more and more against people playing for hours at a time and trying to get people outside more. From having games that suggest taking a break after x amount of time to selling accessories to gain experience for Pokemon by walking. Even setting up the 3DS to earn coins based off of steps regardless of how abusable that turned out to be.

So it makes sense that they would make one of their titles a game that had very little to do. Will they add more in such as minigames? Perhaps. But this is pretty on par with how their company chooses to operate.

I didn't know that was the reason. That's pretty commendable. Kind of like Nickelodeon's World Wide Day of Play where they suspended programming for 3 hours to encourage people to go play.

That makes a lot of sense.

See, my problem with this being added back much later is that none of my friends will be playing AC anymore...it would've been better to have it at the start so that everyone would've had fun together when the game came out...some of my friends haven't touched the game since April so I don't think bringing something like this back will encourage them to return. But if it was in already, we could've at least made some of these memories together like I did in NL.

So yeah I'm not a fan of these "updates". I'm so bored of the game at this point

Yeah, I met some interesting people when i did the tours in NL.

Yeah, it seems like a lot of people lost interest, since it wasn't released as a full game. Every update they are adding should have been included at the beginning. Yeah, the inclusion of Tortimer Island might not draw people back, but it might help stop people from leaving and maybe draw in new players. To be honest, I don't know if this game would be as popular had it not been released during quarantine.

I miss it too I really enjoyed going over to win medals to collect items/furniture haha

And inviting friends to my town to go over with and play together.

And of course fishing at night for sharks to make them bells haha.

The minigames were always so fun, whenever I played them. I didn't even discover them until a while after. The island itself was great, i'd always go at night to farm for bells, it was just so peaceful and nice there.
