so Beau is moving in today, and when I started the game, I could actually see his house plot on the opening screen. it was in the perfect place, the EXACT spot where i wanted it
so i thought, great, i don't have to plot reset! i can just start up the game
sooooo i did and his house moved again. not into the perfect spot but RIGHT in the middle of a path. i'm gonna have to move a PWP and everything ughghfgnbf
always remember to plot reset, kids :c

wow that sucks :P luckily ive never had that happen to me, mostly because i never really used paths before the welcome amiibo update.

What you see on the opening screen before you load a character is rather confusing - often it is the same as when you load, but it doesn't have to show you the 'truth' and hence when you load you can find something different, as you did.

I plot reset if I'm expecting a new villager in - by making a new save file etc - the thing to remember is when you like what you see with that new save file - save with it! Otherwise you don't 'set' the game and it can change again when you load the Mayor/an existing alt.

Here what you should do, you should plan where you want villagers to live at first then place PWP and when you move in a villager, time travel next day but when you change the date also change the time to 5:58 am then get right off your mayor profile then do the new save file thing. If you don't like the spot your villager chosen then get out of the game and do new save file over and over till you found the right spot.

Here is another tip, place ground patterns in spots that you don't want villagers to move there house on in your town. Its a new thing in the update, that villagers don't move on ground patterns.

Oh wow I would've been so upset I'm so sorry that happened! I probably would have done the same thing myself, I always wondered about that scenario in my head. I hope you are able to fix things easily!

Exact same thing happened to me before I knew not to trust those opening scenes. I was dismayed, also. Ah, we live and learn, don't we? C'est la vie...

I noticed that before when I was just starting my town and expecting a plot to appear. I noticed the it changed place as soon as I loaded my mayor so I've learned not to trust what you see on there. Good thing I wasn't plot resetting or anything so it didn't matter.

I'm so sorry this happened to you, but just wanted to thank you so much for posting! I've often wondered if you could avoid plot resetting if you saw them in the right spot in the opening but never had enough patience to sit through the scrolling and put this theory to the test. So thanks again for the warning cause I would've done the exact same thing.

Rather than start a new thread I thought I’d just ask you guys because I do dumb stuff all the time... But does anyone know if when you’re plot resetting if you can knock out the jungle gym with your fake alt’s tent? Or should I just get rid of it beforehand because it’s setting on a big barren dirt patch that’s perfect for it so the rest of the grass won’t be ruined. I’ve read that Nook will knock down small PWPs but not sure if that one’s considered small. And I feel your pain vvindows98, thanks for the warning.

You should be able to do that. The ones you can't take down with an alt are the permanent ones.
