Gotten anything interesting when exploring the previous owners town?
I haven't fully explored it yet but I'm excited to see what was left behind.

Also, I have a question. Would it be better to start the town all over again or keep it as is?
Until after I find use for the villagers and items that is.

I guess that would depend on what and who's there. I got my second game as a second hand copy, I ran around exploring, the villagers were Meh.. and the gentleman I got it from had transferred anything of value to another person's game. Since he had a terrible map, I reset. I regret not checking out his shopping catalog though, he probably had interesting things there and in his visitor's showcase... never thought to check out that either.

I bought my game as a second hand copy from my friend since she didn't like the game, but I was too excited to play that I deleted her town without even bother to look at her progress or anything at all lol

I always check used games for whatever I can pillage from them. My NL cycle town was brand new, but I've bought several used Pokemon games & always check them out before I reset. You never know what you might find in a NL used game. They may have millions of bells or valuable villagers or a halfway decent layout that you could just keep.

Obviously steal his bells and unorderables if he has any. If he has any popular villagers you could cycle 'em out and give them away, make some people happy. I wouldn't bother unless you've got Marshal or something on there though, Tier 3 and below are hard to find homes for at the best of times.

My NL game was new in box, but I've had secondhand Pokemon games with saves before. Never anything exciting like a shiny though. I usually kept one or more of the previous owner's mons in memory of them, then restarted.

I bought a second hand copy a while back and the previous owner left around 20 million bells,a set of gold furniture and a couple of good villagers. They also had chopped down every single tree in the town and had built a dozen or so oil drilling rigs.Ugliest town I've ever seen!

My game was a used copy. I loaded the existing town of Dungeon to find it overrun with weeds and dirt patches. The mayor's name was Demetri or something like that. Weeds I could understand, no telling how long it'd been since it was played, but the town was scary. I didn't explore very far before resetting it. x3

I bought a used Harvest Moon game that had everything. Gazillions of gold so I felt like I couldn't reset it and kept it up. The names of the pets weren't even bad :)

I love new leaf so much I bought a second copy and also a 2DS! because I knew what I was doing I managed to get to where I am really quickly. I buy stuff in one town and take it over to my other game. It's the best thing I ever did and go on each game daily. If your not keen on the town you have on your second copy I would start again. Good luck with it.

You really should keep some of the old towns stuff if there's anything you need and giveaway the villagers c: I usually buy my games new, but once I bought used Pokemon Diamond which had some cool legends and other pokes that I just traded to my own game :D

I have had a notion to buy a 2nd copy and will probably buy second-hand. I have bought 2nd hand before from a local store, but now that I think of it there was no previous data on any of them. So maybe that store erases them. Maybe I should try the pawn shop. It would be fun to see what was there. Unless the town was totally amazing, I would take the good stuff and then reset and I love the fun of building up the town. There's also a town layout I would really like.
