I just bought a second game to use as a weeding town - help!

I was trying to use my main town for weeding purposes, but I want to change to the perfect town ordinance so I don't have to water my flowers. I thought about it for awhile, and decided to buy a second game and use it for weeding. I have some questions, though.

1. Do I have to upgrade the shop enough to have Leif before he will show up for weeding day?

2. If so, will the first garden center be enough, or does it need to be the biggest upgrade?

3. What's the best way to time travel for maximum weeds?

4. Anything else to think about?

I think you do, but it doesn't have to be the biggest store. Just the first one in which he appears.

Just travel a year, then another year, then another, and so on. When you get to the maximum number or have enough weeds, you can go to the present and start over. The funny thing is, if you have any ideas about using your town to get animals for yourself or others, they won't move or even ask to move if you don't ... talk to them enough to get through the tutorial steps, I think? I used my new town for weeds at one point, and they didn't move because I didn't meet some requirement. It was either the tutorial messages or not getting up to 100%. Just immediately change the shirts in Able Sisters to hats or they will switch to those shirts. Also, put flowers in Re-Tail to keep their houses at 100%.

Thanks, Ras! I don't have plans right now to do anything with the villagers, but that's a possibility in the future, so I'll do what I can to keep them "original". Funny thing - one of my villagers is the same as my favorite villager in my first town.

If you made sure that your weeding town doesn't have the Beautiful Town ordinance, you'll grow two weeds per day. Keep in mind that you can only grow up to 60 weeds, so you don't want to time travel any more than 30 days a pop.

Leif will appear in your town when you have more than 50 weeds in your town. Talk to that sleeping guy to trigger the task and pull all the weeds quickly enough to obtain a flower furniture. Also, visitors can participate the activity and get one of the 8 exclusive Flower furniture from Group B. The host will only receive one of the 4 furnitures from Group A.

Still can't wait to get all of those rewards? Time travel to the Weed Day if you have many weeds. As a visitor, pulling 30 weeds will randomly distribute you one of the eight possible Flower furnitures, while eliminating every weed will reward the host one of the 4 exclusive Flower furnitures. Wilted flowers and normal clovers can count as weed.

If you're only aiming to get a gold de-weeding badge, I suggest you let your regular flowers wilt. For some strange reason, they do count as weed when pulled up. You'll want to go on Tortimer Island and take on Island Tours to collect as many flowers as you can possibly hold and bring them to your weeding town.


It takes a lot of patience to collect every Flower furniture and obtain the gold de-weeding badge from Phineas, and time travelling certainly helps a lot. Good luck on getting those things!

That's good information, though I'd say that regular clovers don't count on Leif's countdown, and that probably means they don't count for the badge. In fact, I was keeping a careful count manually when I went for the gold, and I came up short. I'm pretty sure it was because I was counting clovers as weeds. I had to go pull up more regular weeds to make up for it.

I've been through one weeding day. Clover and wilted flowers counts for the 30 pulled for weeding day, but it may not count for any other weeding count.
