I...I'm confused.

So while making my morning rounds on my island, I found a buried spot in my campsite between one of my sleeping bags and the fence. I dug it up and instead of it being a fossil, it was 1000 bells. Like, not a glowing money spot. A buried spot like a pitfall trap or a fossil.

Is this new in the update? Unfortunately in my confusion, i didn't get pics of it lol.

I saw someone else mention this yesterday. Did you also have a regular glow spot? I'm wondering if they changed the look to add the star crack.

Edit: Whoops, I went back and read your post again. No glow. That's weird. I'll have to check my island again later and see if I can find it.

OMG I thought I was going crazy. This exact same thing happened to me. I dug it up and put it in my pocket but that same day I TT'd a few hours earlier to 5am to update my dream address and that same spot with the X mark had a glowing spot again. Weird.

Maybe someone else buried it there? The first day when I played the game, I saw the glowing spot, dug up 1000 bells, and without really knowing what I should do, I buried the 1000 bells somewhere else, got a star sign there...

I don't have a regular glow spot on my island after searching for one. Maybe the glow spots are now rarer? Idk lol

Never mind. Maybe it is the game glitch.

But no one has been to my island for a while so it can't be that. Plus anyone who isn't a Best Friend can't use shovels on another island.

This happened to me too and I'm pretty sure no one buried it there because I haven't had anyone visit in a while! So weird!

My friend had this yesterday and we believe it was some sort of glitch related to the update. I think she restarted the software and then didn't see it again. Today and yesterday my bells were under a glowing hole so I'm not sure if it impacts all players!

I think it seems likely it is part of the luck aspect of the game being added. The glowing spot has always had the potential to not appear. I did not get it for a few weeks back about a month ago before I redesigned my island.

But I don’t really know.

it happend to me also but after i saved and quit, the shiny spot suddenly appeared in the same place the X bells was buried.
try it and see if it worked for u, i think its a glitch and not bad luck

I think it’s a glitch.
Same exact thing with me. An X spot that was 1,000 bells.

I just visited another island, came back and now it’s glowing (wasn’t before)

I haven't seen this yet, although tbf I don't often dig up cracked spots cause I have no use for fossils now lol

It happened to me too, I think it's a glitch, I took the 1000 bells and then later the X spot was replaced by a glowing spot.

Probably a glitch. I didn't see a single star on my ground today. (I have done the 6 Buried Fossils trick, so I don't get anymore each day). I did have a glowing spot as usual.

I had a glowing spot yesterday that transformed into a fossil X in the same play session. Normally I just ignore the glowing spots now, but I knew where it was. I ran by it once, it was glowing. Ran by it again later, it was an X.

I had the X spot yesterday and dug up 1000 bells as well. I was thrown off because I planted all the fossils so I wouldn't have to dig anymore!

I had the same thing! But also, since the update I've started seeing the glow spot spawn on my island every day. I hadn't seen it in forever because my island is decorated so much. But I think they changed the glow spot so it can spawn next to furniture and fences, so it has more of a chance to be seen on crowded islands. This glitch might be linked to that?

Just experienced this. I don't dig up the golden spot everyday, and today I just let it sit there. Just now I started looking for my fossils and a X showed up the same spot were the golden spot was before. I dug it up and found 1000 bells
