I have a question about Perfect Fruit!

So I did a little reading on perfect fruit for ACNL, and I figured out that the only perfect fruit tree you can get is that native to your town. So would it be at all possible to grow various perfect fruit trees that are not native? If not, what is even the point of perfect fruit if non-native are barely worth any bells?

You can only grow perfect fruit that is native to your town. If your town has apples, you may only grow perfect apples and so on.

The idea is that while native perfect fruit in your own town are worth a bit more than regular nature fruit, you're to take them to other towns where they are not native to sell them there for 3000 Bells a piece.
