i wasnt originally that big on aesthetics in the game. my island was my island and i liked it the way it was. then winter hit.
my island has a few japanese themed areas. a lot of mushroom stuff, a lot of more cottagecore-ish areas. the snow and fences and bushes just look TERRIBLE. it clashes horrendously and anytime i look at it i kind of cringe. anyone else have this kind of problem?
Can't say I do, actually. I LOVE the way my island looks in winter, and actually get a little sad when the snow goes away. I also adore how it looks in autumn. And summer is really pretty, too. And spring is nice. But winter is probably my favorite, followed by autumn. It just looks so cozy and nice ☺
This is why my island is always in the summer months. I don’t care if I miss out on winter events. Snow doesn’t look right on a tropical island. I also hate winter in real life.
some parts of my island definitely look.. weird covered in snow. like the south + east are tropical themed so it can be a bit awkward but it doesn't look bad. the parts where it looks the most weird is just where my island is generally unfinished/empty. i like the snow but i definitely prefer the summer!!
This is why I change what my island has throughout the year. Every month I'll reassess my decorations, flowers, etc. and change things out. During the summer, it's fruit and flower stuff everywhere, and models of butterflies, etc. I can't imagine having all of that stuff out in the winter. Now it's frozen and festive stuff everywhere and I love it! The snow is so pretty, and I'm fine with it being on an island like this. Sometimes you have to leave reality behind and enjoy something fantastical. Especially in this day and age, because let's be real. Reality isn't that great at times.
Honestly I felt like my island got a major glow-up and became much prettier when the snow finally stuck. I have a lot of hedges and hate the dull brownish color they become by late fall. The fall palette also really doesn’t go with pink flowers (hybrids so wouldn’t want to replace) unfortunately, and I’m less fond of the yellow grass. But it really depends on your preferences.
My island does look a bit more bleak in the winter months but I actually don’t mind it. I like how the snow looks sparkly and pretty. The only the thing I don’t like is how some items like fences have snow on them, but other items don’t. I wish all items had a bit of snow on them
