Here's how to perform it, and a breif description of it. You obtain nothing more than a laugh and if the timing is right, a good picture.
This glitch is performed during hide-and-seek. I don't know if this works in the town version, I only tested it on the island version. If a villager is hiding behind a tree, you can merge with them. What I mean by that is, is that you and the villager stand in the exact same place and the villager is part them, part you.
Step 1: Find the right villager
Find the right villager to do this with. Keep in mind they must be hiding behind a tree. You can do this with any villager that is doing so, but not all of them look hilarious when you are literally a part of them.
Step 2: Use an axe
Get an axe from Lloid. Equip it. Go to the villager you selected and cut down the tree they are hiding behind. If you cut down the right tree, they will be shocked and start to panic.
Step 3: Get on the stump
When trees are cut down, they leave a stump. Do not dig up the stump. Instead, sit on it.
Step 4: Face the villager
When you are sitting on the stump, rotate yourself until you are facing the villager. You rotate on the stump by moving the circle pad.
Step 5: The glitch (the good part)
Get off the stump facing the villager. Watch! You just merged with the villager. If you want a picture, do it immideately. You do not stay in this position for long. You are there for a couple seconds, then you teleport next to the villager.
Good job! You performed a glitch! You get a High-5.
