Is it Mira and Julian? I LOVE BOTH! (If I didn't already have them I would have asked for them)
There are a lot of Popular ones I don't like (Marshal, Bob, Diana, Fauna, and Bam come to mind), but some I like (Mira, Julian, and Ankha to name some)

Ugh I feel you. I was so excited when I got Julian in one of my towns but I just couldn't see why everyone liked him. I prefer Colton more :L
it's just that i see people paying extortionate prices for julian in the villager exchange and people bid like 8 million and they still don't get him and i have him completely by accident and have been ignoring him for a quite a while now
it makes me feel so guilty haha
there's something very unsettling about him i think
i bet he believes in the friendzone and would definitely wear a fedora if villagers could do that

Mira is my third favorite (Actually there is a tier 4 and a tier 5 I rank above her! Hopper the Penguin and Hans the Yeti!) I love Mira because she is obviously based on Sailor Venus (The original Japanese version of Sailor Moon is my favorite anime, and the English dub of it, I consider the worst thing ever made by man kind) Plus I just love the Uchi villagers in general! I love how tomboyish they are!
I have had Julian for a few days now. I enjoy him a lot! Not as much as Hans, but he's still great!

I had Diana as one of my original villagers. This was when I didn't know villagers could be worth 'more' than others by the way. When she asked to move out I was like YES YES YES. I now feel bad because I have realised that over here people want her so bad, so I could have given her away rather than just voiding her.

Another reason I really like Julian! I am a MAJOR fan of MLP:FiM, and I LOVED the season 4 finale yesterday! It made me appreciate him even more. Now all we need is a Pegasus and an Alicorn villager!

I have one tier one villager, Lolly, and she's very sweet but I'm not sure I would have picked her out had I not got her with my town. I can't say I'm totally in with the idea of dreamies either, I just like going along and seeing who turns up! There's a couple of villagers I have my eye on though (Benjamin, Bluebear).
The one thing I completely and utterly don't understand is the craze for octopus villagers. I had Marina in WW and couldn't wait for her to get out! I expected them to be in the lowest tier of popularity haha!

yeah, i don't have dreamies either and tend to try and avoid picking up villagers from other people as much as i can (unless there is a huge sentimental value like with pekoe and ankha!!) i like letting the game have its own natural flow and direction
i hate octopi too!!! i had marina in CF and had no idea she was such a big deal, i guess it's because there's only 3 of them they're quite rare

I don't care if the octopi were tier one or the least popular villagers in the entire game! I love the octopus villagers. They are really funny looking, and just seeing one makes me smile. Plus Octopi have always been one of my favorite animals in real life too!

There are only 3 cows in NL and they are widly hated. So Rarity has nothing to do with it.
