I dont understand why people hate villagers

I used to hate villagers passionatley and then I realized I literally have no reason to. Like I hated Raymond because he was popular but over the past year Ive thought about it and... I don't see the appeal of constantly talking crap about villagers like.... even if they're 'ugly' they're just little animals tryna vibe and badly catch bugs and play airplanes, who are we to be like 'I hate u, ur ugly, get out'
Why are we so mean to these fictional characters who are just trying to get through every day like us? LOL I know it's silly but it's just crazy to me how people can make whole hate accounts to villagers like.. they're not even real leave them alone. Am I the only one who thinks avid villager hate is unnecessary?

yipes! hating specific villagers is one thing, and i think understandable, but that's really excessive...the hate account stuff seems super unhealthy to me, just in general (not just for animal crossing villagers, which is already a bizarre thing to get so heated over...)

I've had villagers do things to upset me and I'd dislike them (like Jambette ruining my hybrid garden in new leaf, or Shep making filbert cry in nh) but like...I can see hating a design/thinking the design is ugly, but it's weird because all the villager types are programmed to say the same stuff so it's a bit odd. You hate a design, not a character, at the end of the day.

There are a few villagers who I really don’t like the deigns of but I just choose to not have them in my town and move on. I also don’t like specifically saying who they are just because I know they will be someone’s favorites and there is enough negativity in life without me calling someone’s digital animal friend ugly haha

never really hated on villagers, except when some came in when I was organising to get another. but I never hate on them (eg. net hitting) I just let them be and hope they ask to move.

The only one I "hate" is Barold because 1 he reminds me of someone I knew and hate irl and 2 he moved into my roses in NL. I do kinda like his creepy computer neckbeard vibe in NH though.
Other than that theres just villagers I dont want on my island because of their design and my tastes.

But I definitely agree with you. Going so far as to actually hate a villager is extreme. I never really understood it. Some of the designs freak me out, or look hideous to me, but I don't see the point in actually hating on them.

I understand not liking the design of a villager and not wanting them in your town but making whole hate accounts is too much. These people have way too much time on their hands. Just don't move them into your town and move on.

I was genuinely displeased to see Pietro as my first camper, but that’s because in New Leaf his house was actively painful (the exterior was gaudy but managable, but balloon furniture + the illusion walls and floor gave me eyestrain) and he never moved out. So for a bit I decided I’d make the best of it and he’d be my cartoon nemesis as a joke. Then it turned out his NH house was fine and the smug writing this time actually fit him quite well, so my displeasure faded. But I can see there being genuine reasons to dislike certain villagers beyond just ‘they’re too popular’ or ‘I don’t like the design.’ Fortunately I think they got rid of the illusion wall and floor that caused me such grief, but I wouldn’t be shocked if other people have issues with other combos that are in the game.

I personally hate the robot villagers because robots/animatronics are a legitimate fear of mine so I find no appeal in them whatsoever.

I also lowkey hate Mallary and Ursala but that's because they were rude as **** to 8 y.o. me in Animal Crossing GCN lol.

Feel like sometimes people take their hate too seriously with one villager. I saw this one YouTube video where Raymond was getting so much hate because of how popular he was. When I saw that I felt sorry for the poor thing and to this day I still have him on my island. It sickens me when people attack others just for even having Raymond.

I don't hate any of them, because they're... all the same with different pixel facades, lmao. Someone needs to do me dirty for me to hate them to the degree I see some people hating on villagers. I also especially like "ugly" villagers.

My sister hated Pate in Wild World, though, and their rivalry was hilarious to me. It kind of did feel like Pate was always giving her the stink-eye and saying off-color things to her. I miss that dialogue!

People actually hate villagers? I'm glad I don't read too much discussion about the series these days. Considering that this game's villager dialogues are all amiable, in contrast to the GC iteration, I can't imagine finding a reason to actually hate any of them. If it's for something like simply being an ugly villager—well, let me just say that sweet little pot bellies like Mac and Axel pretending to be body builders are adorable.
