So I got the demo and i'm glad I did because I don't get it at all really. It is really fast paced and I don't understand the flow of it. Can anyone explain what the general gameplay of pokemon is supposed to be like? I'm not sure I want the full game.

I have the demo now as well. From what I can tell, the main point of it is just to get a small idea what the game will be like. Unlike other demos I've played, you aren't playing a portion of the full game (like the beginning of it). That's probably why it feels super fast paced.

I've played the original Ruby so I did recognize the area, but even though it's a remake, it will be like the original game, but with some updates, like the mega evolutions. It definitely won't feel as fast paced as with this demo, based on my experiences with past Pokemon games.

I guess the reason I'm not getting it is because I have never played Pok?mon before... it's probably just overwhelming because it is so new. I hope they have a better tutorial in the Full Game because I got confused at so many things...

Fast-paced? Pokemon? Don't worry about fast-paced, it's very simple and turn-based, you can take your time. I'm assuming the demo is for X/Y (I didn't even know Pokemon had a demo), which I hear is one of the easier games in the series? And even then, the harder games (older games I guess) aren't a problem at all.

Well, ok, general gameplay. You and your opponent have six Pokemon, you each send one out, and you can select from four attack moves (or you can use items). I imagine that was all covered in the demo. Each Pokemon has a type (sometimes two), and special statistics determining how good it is at attacking (strength, speed, physical attacks or "special" attacks, etc), different types have different advantages. It's like rock paper scissors, especially with the three starter types. Fire beats grass, grass beats water, water beats fire. Psychic beats fighting, fire beats bug, electric beats flying, so on. It's pretty easy to memorize, but you can just look at the types when you're fighting and think about it logically. I mean, obviously water beats fire, right? That sort of thing.

Hopefully my poor rundown helps somehow? Pokemon is super simple.

I think they are referring to the Alpha Sapphire / Omega Ruby demo. I have the demo as well and played it for the second time yesterday. I was on an island where I fought four trainers and then the demo ended. There wasn't a lot of exploring to do or anything. I can understand that for someone's who's never played Pok?mon before, the demo doesn't look all that great and interesting (I'm sure the whole Mega Evolution must be quite confusing too).

That's probably it. The main Pokemon series really isn't known for being fast-paced. It's a turn based game, so each turn you can either make a move with the current Pokemon in battle, switch them out for another one, use an item, or run (if able to.).

For someone who has played previous games, this comes off as pretty choppy and not impressive. And for someone who hasn't played, it's easy to see why you'd get confused. It's all over the place. It really isn't a good demo, but that's just me.

I know there are people on Youtube who've played a different demo, that does start from the beginning, but I dunno if the general public will get access to that demo. The one we got isn't from the full game. Just lil tidbits to get a feel for the gameplay, and nothing more. At least, that's how it comes across.

I definitely don't remember ever flying on Latios/Latias in the original Ruby for sure.

Yeah... I guess it seemed kind of rushed and not very explanatory... I hope the full version will do a better job of that.

Do u guys not remember its support to be play everyday til the full version comes out

Generally the games have good tutorials, the demo works off the assumption that you kinda already know how the games are played. A lot of knowledge also comes from just playing it, or finding information on the internet. I can see how the demo would be overwhelming for somebody who's never played Pokemon before, as it assumes you've played through X/Y.

If you're still unsure about whether or not you'll like Pokemon games, try playing one of the older ones. There's easy ways to play them on your computer, but that's all I can say about that.

It's just a taster.

The actual game you pick your starter pokemon, being treecko, torchic. You then travel through the region on a WHOLE adventure doing different challenges, fighting new and different pokemon as opposed to the same over and over, you can catch pokemon [unlike the demo], and you collect gymm badges before you fight the elite four.

One of the best things about pokemon is you can pick your own team. Unlike the demo

Considering we get all the prizes for just repeatedly playing it ten times in a row, I'm not terribly inclined to play it more.

But yes, like others have said the demo was a little fast paced and was considerably catered to long time fans. Everything will be at a much slower pace in the beginning of the actual games, as much like your trainer, you will be learning the ropes. Things will be explained to you instead of having you thrust into a position of power.

The tutorial in Pokemon has always been helpful, at least on the newer games (can't speak for older than ruby/sapphire and XY since I haven't tried it yet) They'll teach you how to play as you play it.

Like Reindeer said, I'd recommend trying out the older games if you're still unsure about this remake. The original R/S/E was really good in my opinion, and a lot of people begged this remake for a reason lol. R/S/E was also my first pokemon game  You can also try B/W, which was made for NDS. B/W had my favorite story and probably the only Pokemon game I actually finished... There's also HeartGold/SoulSilver which has a REALLY neat feature where the pokemon can follow you on the map. Unfortunately they never keep this feature for future games :(

I don't think that the demo is really meant for new players.
Every full pokemon game so far has a perfect explanation of the game hidden in the first 10-20 minutes you play. You can also take on the main story line on your own tempo. I think you should give the full game a chance!

I would definitely advise trying an older game first to see if you like that. Personally, I'd advise Platinum, though you could probably find the inferior versions, Diamond and Pearl, for cheaper online. Either way, Pokemon games tend to give you a simple tutorial earlier in the game, with some NPCs giving you basic type matchups (usually Grass<Fire<Water<Grass) and places like the Trainer's School giving you details on every status. X and Y would be another good choice, considering that they're the most recent and allows you to get used to the Gen 6 mechanics. Platinum has more to do in the aftergame, though, so if that matters, go for Platinum.

Either way, it's likely that ORAS will be a lot better than the demo when it's released. Don't give up hope on it just yet.

That makes sense. I haven't followed progress on that game at all, not even for its demo. Thanks for letting me know! I'll give it a try. It sounds... pretty boring, even for a demo.

The demo is basically just for getting a new Mega and some items. It's like a starter kit, but for Pokemon.

If you wanted to get a feel for the pokemon games you could go look up a walkthrough :) I'd recommend Chugaaconroy (I think I spelled that wrong).

Will the full ORAS have saving like the demo, where the game automatically saves for you only at certain points in the game?

Seeing as how GF took out character customization, I won't be surprised if they also took out the ability to save anywhere anytime. sigh...

I would 't say that. Saving at any time has been a staple since gen 1. They wouldn't just remove it for no reason, I believe.
