Has anyone else ever gotten negative remarks for giving away villagers for free? (And cross-posting.)
Someone just messaged me on FB saying it's "unfair" to give them away first come, first serve for free and not taking offers... I don't like taking offers...? I mean, I have sold a few villagers. But very few and since I have issues with numbers, I tend to avoid it because I've been ripped off a couple times because I'm not the best with adding sums. (I know, I know...) I have all the items I want and if not, I want to try and get them myself? I don't have any more space available for swapping villagers at the time being and unless I see someone giving away a friend's dreamie in exchange for my boxed up one, I just give them away for free.

I don't understand how that's unfair. Sorry I'm sparing you millions of bells? Sorry I'm making it an equal playing field? Sorry that I'm posting on several pages and boards in the efforts to reach as many people as possible? Like, is that really the worst I could do?

All my villagers for my main town were given to me for free (minus the 5m for Muffy). A lot of my other villagers were picked up for free via FB. Maybe I just wanna give back instead of just taking all the time? I haven't seen this person offer any of their villagers/items on there once. But man, they're the first ones begging for things.

I'm really sad/upset over something so petty and trivial.
I'm being nice and that's not fair?
Whatever. I'm glad Whitney's going to a nice girl and not you.
Least she seems excited about getting her.

People are bitter. Some people have a hard time accepting that you can't always get what you want whenever you want it. Others let their disappointment easily turn into anger. Some people are just pricks. The list goes on.

Don't let it bother you. You're obviously doing a great thing giving villagers away for free.

I've seen some very toxic people on Animal Crossing forums. Neighbors are very serious business, it seems. Don't let them get to you, they're just upset that they couldn't go into a bidding war with someone. I guess some people just feel discouraged not even being given a chance to try, but... I've missed plenty of "first come, first serve" and I just shrugged and moved along. I figure, hey, that particular neighbor will come along again eventually.
If someone is immature enough to get upset over a fake animal in a game enough to be rude to someone else, then they're not even worth your time. :) I think some tend to forget that there are real people with feelings on the other side of that screen.

I'm sure the person who got Whitney is very appreciative.

They are mad that they couldn't buy their way into getting what they want is all. Don't let it get to you :) Giving away villagers is a lovely thing to do! <33

I don't get why people would get mad at something like this... Like yeah, if I miss out on a villager I wanted on a cycling thread I'd be sad but I'm most likely gonna get that villager later on from somewhere else so there's no need to stay sad about it. :b

I've just always felt giving away villagers is so much nicer (and easier) than selling than for all parties. I only say first come, first serve just to avoid an overwhelming rush and to hopefully get the villager out that much more quickly so I can cycle on. It rarely happens, but it gets the job done nicely. But then again, I'm the person who's kept a villager in boxes for a week for someone. So, it goes either way. If I know they really want 'em, I'll do everything in my power to save them.

I messaged the admin of the FB group that the person came from, along with their message. Not sure what that will do, but in the case of them trying to pull something, at least there's proof.

I've missed out on many dreamies, free or not, and it sucks. But if you just wait around, you'll get lucky. It just wasn't your day today and buying your way doesn't always work. I don't know. I'm glad Whitney's new owner seems happy though; she keeps trying to give me things in return and it's like, "No! Enjoy your new wolf-friend!" The excitement of people getting their dreamies makes me happy, lol. That sounds so lame.

Seems a pointless waste of internet if you ask me. Giving away villagers is a nice way to let you keep on cycling while someone gets their dreamie. I've seen many people give away villagers and some people have been like "ILLL GIVE YOU 60MIL"
Um, this a give away, not a auction.

Seconding ForgottenT, plain and simple.
It's an amazingly selfish remark and your possessions have nothing to do with them in the first place, so why do they deserve to be able to make an offer?

Yes. I'm part of free villager trade groups on FB. You have no idea how many times people have to be reminded that there is no offers or bidding. People will fight you on that. It's honestly the weirdest thing ever. You can get it for free, but you're shoving money in people's faces? I gave Ankha away to user on here in a sort of 3-way trade. Someone messaged me trying to give me 100 million for her and wanting to buypass the ongoing/promised trade. Are you kidding me?

This. Plus, honestly, first come first serve is about as fair as it gets, when it comes to villager trading. It's a lot more fair than "to the richest," or "to the person who writes me the best short-form essay/epic poem about why they want the character."

Giving villagers away for free is a wonderful thing to do and first-come, first-serve is the only fair way of doing that.

I'm glad a lot of people feel the same way. And I'mma be honest, I didn't think cycling was so difficult so kudos to cyclers. I've never even been this frustrated with my own towns. I see why some people want or need payment, especially for those home loans. But I'm happy just giving stuff away for free.

You're doing a lovely thing, don't let silly people out there get you down. It's people like you who helped me to get my favorite dreamy in one town and a froggy to get my all froggy town started :) They are probably just annoyed they missed the giveaway. Chin up :)

Selling them its not a bad thing, I respect if someone wants to sell them, I have no problem with that, in fact I got Erik in an auction, and I also get that some people need the money, so again selling them is not a bad thing.

But if you want to give them away is even better, you are helping someone, without wanting anythin return, whicj makes you a nice person. I now have my dreamies, but when I was looking for them, LadyScion (best person ever) gave me my ultimate dreamie (Julian), and not only that she trade him first for her marshal, so she can it for me, without me asking me to do that, totally selfless act, and thats why some day will cycle someday to help people get their dreamies, like I did; will I sell some when I need money, well maybe, but I will try to help as much people as I can, before helping myself when I start my cycle thread.

In conclusion, haters gonna hate, and you just keep doing your thing, I have lost some villagers in raffles and cycling threads, and the only thing I felt was gratefulness to the person that even consider me to gave me a villager.
