I can't visit someone's town?

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post this here, but I need help! I'm trying to pick up a villager from a friends town, but I can't get there. The error code is 018-0511. What's really weird is that she can get to my town...but I still can't get there. I was just at my roommates town earlier today over wi-fi and four different towns yesterday.

Both of us have up to date software, I've reconnected to the Internet a couple of times, and nothing is working!

Thoughts?

Try turning everything off and have them do the same. Delete their friendcode and re-add them. Then load up the game again and try from there.

I had that happen before and all it took was deleting and re-adding. <3 Good luck!

I had this EXACT problem today. I googled that error code and it brought me to the nintendo site, where I went through a long and complicated process of resetting my internet settings so that I was under a something something DMZ (demilitarized zone) setting.

After all that trouble, and it worked, I still couldn't get to this person's town. She was at her bf's house, and once she got home to hers I got in no problem, so it's potentially a firewall issue on either side! It could be someone else's wifi has different firewall settings.

I just unplugged my wifi for a min and replugged it. Idk if that did anything.

Did you not get this sorted? I've had the same error before when going to a town for trading. I unplugged my wifi and forgot the access point on my ds. Set it all back up again and was good to go!
Just a thought in case it happens again x

I think my friend had the same problem but couldn't visit ANYONE's town. She ended up having to call nintendo to walk her through some fancy tech stuff :b

I've had this problem so many times and there is only one thing that fixes it. Save and quit, when back to the main screen press A, then scroll down to "Update Data". Once it downloads the latest Data you will be allow to visit other towns. I wish they would notify you when this action needs to take place but it's just something you have to keep up with or they cut off your travel. It doesn't effect any other aspect of the game that I've noticed. Good luck hope that helps

Ahh, we're not really sure what caused it. We think it might be because she was using her college's internet. I know when I lived in residence you had to get special permission to connect a device that wasn't a computer/phone/tablet...At least we thought that until I tried to go to another person on here's town to adopt a different villager. I can't seem to get there either.

Thanks so much for everyone's opinions, we've been trying all of those suggestions and I'll let you know when something finally works

sometimes the ACNL train lines just don't have the connections lined up between two villages. no rhyme or reason to it.
