When villagers want to move they won't bring it up in normal conversation.
Also, next time you know that a villager will be moving on an event day, wait until after 7pm and they will ping you! Since villagers won't ping during event days and event days end at 7pm (?), they will start to ping like normal after that time

Same happened to me with some villager, but I simply TT through hours. At the birthday party, if you trigger the thing, later the villagers inside seemed to change between hours. And with the fishing event, just wait until night when prizes are given and then all neighbours will be outside and able to talk, or inside their homes.

Sorry to hear that. I haven't experienced this but event days like the Fishing Tourney are extremely annoying when half the time the villagers won't shut up about fishing and you end up being restricted from what you want to do. It sucks that you couldn't get Fang to ping after the event, though.

If a villager notifies you that another villager is moving on an event day, TT or wait until 8 o'clock (whatever time the event ends). They should ping you about moving at that time

I know it sucks hearing now since it's already happened but I think TTing backward on the day of the bday or fishing tourney to a day where nothing special was going on would have saved you. But once he was in boxes it was too late. :/

unfortunately, yeah it really does suck quite a bit. ive decided to just move on and go with chief instead of fang for now. maybe i'll cycle later on to get him back
