so, marshal told me 2 days in advance that fang would be leaving. so i figured i would talk to him to make him stay right?
the day marshal told me that was shari's bday and fang was at her house, so i couldnt persuade him to stay. i started the game up several times but it seems like he was just set to be at her house.
the next day was the fishing tourney, & no matter how many times i tried he would be outside fishing. i literally spent hours reloading my game so he'd be inside so i could actually have normal dialogue w/him but it just wouldnt work!

and today, he's in boxes. i had no way to even try to persuade him due to 2 event-type days in a row im very upset about this. has this happened to anyone else? ;;

im not sure what exactly happened, but all i know is that i was kinda stuck somehow. im forgetting the exact details but somehow i was stuck in between events. im also trying to stay in blossom week so that also screwed it up a bit ;w;

I hate it when that happens ;^; Something similar happened to me with Diana. Note : I time travel a lot. Diana pinged me and was considering moving. I obviously would have tried making her stay, but I misclicked and ended up choosing the option to let her leave. I know I could just talk to her again later on and she'll bring it up again as a second chance to get her to stay..but I eventually forgot about the issue. I ended up time traveling a few times, and on like my fourth or fifth time time traveling, Isabelle informed me about Diana leaving. In other words, she was in boxes. I started freaking out and remembered I was suppose to try to talk her out of it ;u; ::facepalm::..Since it was too late, I might as well sell her and not let her go to waste. Nahh, I'm absent minded so before dealing with Diana, my first objective was to go to main street and see if there was anything new that I could buy ._. I forgot about her and time traveled and she ended up going to the void. I would have been satisfied if I just sold her in the end, but I'm so stupid I blew two chances haha ; _ ;

the fishing tourney is annoying as heck tf???? all the villagers say the same thing & u cant build pwps or anything

Talking to them will not get you anywhere. You have to wait until they ping you, and tell you they are leaving. Then you can tell them to stay or go.
Villagers will not ping you durring the fishing tournament, but they will when it's over. You have to wait until 6:00 pm. It might be the same for Birthday parties, but I'm not real sure.

Sorry that you lost a fave villagers. I hope they change things a bit in the next game, so that we can more easily keep our favorites.

Yeah, that really sucks...made me quite paranoid because of any upcoming events or birthdays that obstruct them from letting you know that they are leaving.
And it's more annoying when a villager is ill because all the other villagers that you spam-talk to will only mention the villager that's sick, and makes it harder to know if anyone is moving.

A heads up for next time, on a Fishing/Bug tourney, change the clock to some time like 9pm. The villagers will stop carrying their fishing rods and they should talk to you as normal. You could've tried to get Fang to ping there, too...
