Hybrids are no longer spawning in my town?

So, I've noticed recently that hybrids are no longer spawning as wonderfully as they once were in my town. Planting two hybrids next to eachother spawns fine, however for example when I plant a red rose and a white rose together, I never get a simple pink rose. I thought for awhile that I was just unlucky, but it's been almost two weeks and still not a single hybrid has poped up.

I have used fertilizer, I have watered them every day and I've even planted a few Jacob ladders around to maybe help the chances of getting a few, but all they give me are normal red and whites in return.

I've tried different approaches to planting them, first in the diamond pattern and even just in rows and I'm still coming up with nothing.

x = empty space
o = flower
F = fertilizer

Method 1:

xoxox
oxfxo
xoxox

Method 2:
ooo
xFx
ooo

Is this a bug in the game?
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
I spend about 60% of my time making hybrids, and it's suddenly super discouraging for me.

Thanks a lot! :(

Jacob's Ladder's won't make hybrids appear. They are more of a separator plant.

Try a simple arrow planting.

.......X
...X..F...X

Or:

X...........X
F.....X
X...........X

Or:

X
.....X
X
.....X
X

Put fertilizer near the center of the above formation.

X being the flower.
F = fertilizer.

Only water what you want to breed.

Also, if it snows or rains, that tends to ruin getting specific hybrids, even if you've used a ton of fertilizer, as it's like you've watered everything. So random hybrids or regular flowers are more likely to spawn.

Rain is the enemy! ^_^

I'm pretty sure the amount of sunshine is an issue. I haven't tried much flower breeding lately because I rarely have a day that is clear. I'm open to correction about this from more experienced breeders...
