Hybrid tips

What I usually do is buy some hybrids, atleast 4 and I place them diagonaly to eachother and water them everyday. Thing with Hybrids is that you can only water THAT one color hybrid otherwise none will grow.

For example :

Place 4 purple roses in for of a diamond. Then water those roses and no other flowers.

You should get one extra rose or maybe 2 if your lucky, once you have a nice batch you keep adding them together diagonaly to eachother, and they could end up giving about 6 per day, thats how it works in my cycle town and main town.

But if you water purple roses and pink tulips, you'll probably get either 0 or 1 on only one of the hybrid types.

People say fetilizer helps, but i've never really have bothered to try it out. I hope this helps, if you need a visual example I can take pictures of the diamond for in my game and load them up here for you to see. :3

I don't really have a guide, but I do have several tips.
-Use a checkerboard pattern.
-Stick to a field of 10-12 flowers of the color and species that you want to get. Anything more and you run a higher chance of getting a non-hybrid.
-Get the Beautiful Ordinance.
-Water all 10-12 flowers and only water those flowers.

Pretty much what everyone else has said. If you're trying to get specfic hybrids, create a patch of the base flowers in a checkerboard pattern and only water those flowers. Once you've got a pair of hybrids, most of the time you can start breeding them together to make more of them more easily.

Also, if you're paranoid about your hybrids getting trampled or destroyed by villagers moving in, breed hybrids on your beach or somewhere unlikely someone will move into.

when you're saying to only water those flowers you're trying to grow hybrids from, does that mean only water those flowers in the area, or literally do not water any other flower in your town?

Only water the flowers you want to breed hybrids from. You need to have the Beautiful Town ordinance active, though, or else all of your other flowers will wilt.

I didn't know watering other types of flower lower the chances of hybrids showing up! The guide I read didn't mention this :( Thank you for everyone!

I accidentally make them, heh.

The orientation of your flowers might have an effect. In previous Animal Crossing games, having the flowers touch diagonally was better, but in other games, having them in straight rows was better.
Water flowers even if they don't need it
Plant large patches of the same type of flower to have multiple flowers next to each other
Bury fertilizer next to the flowers. Fertilizer is available after you upgrade Timmy and Tommy's shop to the Department Store.

I'm the only one with that old school trick when you put one hybrid flower and another hybrid flower together (in a line , same color and flower) and just water them . xD

As mentioned above, water the flowers that you want to breed only. Unless it is raining, because I think that automatically waters every flower? Correct me if I'm wrong.

You can also try using Fertilizer to increase the chances of getting a hybrid, and plant the flowers in a checkerboard shape.

I had tons of trouble getting blue violets even when I followed these steps uugh

Thonky has a good guide on what combinations give hybrids out, you should check it out! One thing that helps me a LOT is fertilizer so I just buy fertilizer in bulk here in TBT and plant some everyday to get as many hybrids as possible. Also remember to place hybrids that grow from being next to each other together like purple roses, blue roses etc. This is how I ended up with huge fields of purple, pink and blue roses in my town.

Move all your hybrids (or just the ones you want to breed) to an open area in your town. If your town is quite full, the beach works alright. All you need to do is place hybrids of the same kind next to each other. This is the most effective way to create more hybrids. If you only have one of a particular type, you can put another flower of the same variety but a different colour next to it.

If you are trying to grow a type of hybrid you already have, find out the two types of flower you need to breed to create it and then arrange those flowers in a pattern like this:
x x

To increase the chance of spawning hybrids, you can set your ordinance to beautiful town and water the flowers that you want to breed. Don't water any other flowers to maximise your chances of getting the hybrids you want. If you have beautiful town, the other flowers you have will not wilt.

As others have mentioned, fertiliser will further improve your odds of getting hybrids but I've had good results without it and I find it to be an overly time consuming and costly step. If you have a lot of bells and time on your hands though it might be worth doing. Just bury the fertiliser adjacent to flowers you wish to breed.
