Im pretty new here and need some help with flowers as I want to start doing hybrids.
I have some black roses, I understand you are to let them wilt and then water them with the gold can to make golden roses. So I planted them last night, how many days does it take to get them to wilt ? I have never time traveled so that is no issue.
also what is the best way to plant hybrids? In a straight row vertically or horizontally by twos or diagonally?
One other question..since I dont reset or time travel how would I keep new villagers from making a home on top of my flowers?
Thanks in advance for your help.

If you have beautiful town ordinance they won't wilt. So if you don't and you don't water them, some should wilt the next day. Try watering all your flowers with the exception of those you want to wilt. Plant the flowers diagonally from their mates, I think it works good this way. Plant your flowers on the beach for breeding if you don't want them to be ruined & if you just don't want the flowers you use for decoration to be ruined then you should plot reset. :)

Make sure you don't have the beautiful town ordinance. Don't water the black roses and they (some of them) should wilt (turn gray) the next day. Then water them with the golden can.

I usually plant them diagonally, so it's like a zig-zag. Buring fertilizers in the middle also helps.

If you don't use plot reset method, there's always a chance of new villagers moving on top of your hybrid flowers.. (I lost my only carnations tht way b4 D: ] you can use the beach tho- I grow a lot of hybrids on the beach and villagers can't move on sand xD

THank you both..that was very helpful, I will have to change my ordinance tomorow and also do the diagonal planting as I did rows. Again thank you.

Also another thing, if it's raining that counts as watering your flowers so nothing will wilt, I think.
