Hybrid guides not accurate!

Sorry if this has been posted before, but so far a lot of the flower hybrid guides have been flat-out wrong. :/ I know that the combinations have changed since the last game (which is stupid), but I can't for the life of me find the right way to make purple pansies, purple tulips or blue roses.

The guides I find all say red + yellow will make all of the flowers I listed above, but I only get orange every single time. Has anyone out there had any success?

I'm not sure about purple pansies or purple tulips, but I have made one blue rose before and it took forever. To make the blue rose, I had to breed special red roses that were spawned from purple and orange roses. You need to make sure that it's not a red rose that one of the villagers planted. After that, it will take a good long while until you get even one blue rose. You will mostly get a bunch of black and other colored roses before you ever see one blue rose spawn from those special red roses.

I think purple pansies and purple tulips are the same. Two reds that are spawned from a blue and a red or two blues crossbred or a red spawned from a blue and a red or two blues crossbred with a yellow. These third generation hybrids are very hard to breed and take a lot of patience.
