I currently want to switch up some things in my main town (mostly replacing a few tons of hybrids and regular flowers) I need a LOT of hybrids. I tried maintaining a hybrid farm once, but since my play times vary, (from like playing for 3 hours to not at all) I didn't get many hybrids out of the deal. But now, since I'm going to basically replace over 100s of blue roses and even more white roses, I think that maybe I should try to start breeding a few of the flowers I need. Do you think that this is a good idea? Do you have any advice on breeding? (but not the whole 'grow your hybrids on the beach' thing, I know that) Have you ever had a hybrid farm?

do you already have the hybrids you need to grow or do you plan to make the hybrids from normal flowers? it's a lot easier if you already have a few pairs of the hybrids you want to grow... you just have to put in the time to water them daily. also if you're getting rid of a bunch of blue roses, I'm sure you can find people who will trade hybrids with you

I might buy some pairs off of someone, but I have a few already. Also I might sell the roses and/or trade them. The two hybrids I need, though, aren't as popular as some hybrids are.

I put all my hybrid that I didn't want more of in a rows on the beach. The rows go all the way to the water so a villager or the game can't plant them.

Than I just put two types of hybrids that I want to grow in a checkboard pattern and water them. A few nights ago I was trying for more blue pansies and found a purple pansy with the 4 blue pansies. The last few days I found more blue pansies.

I've found a way that works really well for me. If you plant two of the hybrids you want horizontally, and plant a Jacob's Ladder on each side, then it will produce a lot of hybrids. I read somewhere that planting Jacob's Ladders next to flowers increases the chance of growing a hybrid, though I am not completely certain. Whenever a new hybrid grows overnight, I leave it there; thus increasing the chances of getting more of the same flowers. It helps to water my hybrids everyday. Soon I have rows of them!
Hope this helps!

I place them in a checkerboard pattern when I farm. For example:

xoxoxoxox
oxoxoxoxo
xoxoxoxox

The x's are flowers, and the o's are a blank space where I don't have anything. I also alternate by color, so if I'm trying to get a pink rose, the first x would be red, the next white, the third would be red, and so on. I get at least one of the color I'm looking for on most days.

Then, of course, once you get two of the color you want, just use those two to breed. Put them next to each other and have at it. Make sure none of this is happening where you tend to run or walk a lot.
